i wanted to walk down the isle to "From this Moment" by shania twain. My mom and future mom both think i should stick with the traditional wedding song. I dont know if it would be kind of innappropriate. Its not a huge deal to me either way but i just want some advice. It is my first wedding and im just 21 =)

It is your wedding, if it is what you really want to walk down the isle to then do it. It is your mom and I am sure you love her but you should do what's in your heart. Alot of time when it comes to weddings everyone wants to give their opinons but if you do what everyone wants you to do then it won't be the wedding of your dreams. What it will be is the wedding of everyone else's dreams. DO YOU BABY GIRL, it's you who have to live with it.

If it makes you feel any better, when my day comes, I won't be using the traditional song.

I dont think that song is cheesy, it is rude to say so. I think that you should walk down the aisle to the traditional march, after all even though this is your wedding a part of the wedding is a salute to the parents who raised you and ahem... helped pay for it. I would say walk down to the tradition, say I do schnoopy schnoopy, kiss, and then when you walk back play the song you want. It makes sense with the lyrics and then your guests have something to listen to while they follow you out of the church, but what so I know, I am just the boss of you! ;)

If you want to please everyone, you could walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of that song. It will sound much more "traditional", while at the same time still be the song you want and love.

If you must have the words in the version you walk down the aisle to, see if your mom will compromise by letting you have it as a recessional (played as you walk back up the aisle) or having the traditional recessional. That way, each of you get to pick a song your way.

You can use whatever song you want. It's your wedding. I am not walking down the isle to a traditional wedding march either.

I'm getting married in April and was having thoughts along the same lines as you! I don't like the traditional music, it is so common and sounds a bit garish to my ears. I fiddled with the idea of using a contemporary song, "Storybook Love" by Willy DeVille, but I ultimately decided to have music written just for me! My former High School choir director agreed to write music for my ceremony; my point being that you can do ANYTHING you want (within the general bounds of etiquette) with your wedding...because it is YOURS!!!!!! Don't let other people influence what you want, I've had to deal with the same type of thing, just keep your resolve and explain to them that this is your wedding day that you have dreamed of for years and you want it as you see it! Good luck!

Im not walking to the traditional song either. That song is beautiful, but I would suggest play the instumental version of that song, just because it would not be awkward to cut off when you finally reach the end. Unless you plan on waiting out the whole song. Congrats! and Good Luck!

that song would be fine. I had a non-traditional song for my bridesmaids to walk down to and did the traditional thing when I walked down. I wish that I would have had the other song becuase it was a song that meant a lot to me and my husband. Just do what you feel is right. Your mom and future mom both had their own weddings, this one is yours, make it your own.

Compromise, and use a version of the Shania Twain song that doesn't have words...just the instrumental. I have a CD that has this song on it without the words.

I think that song would be fine to walk down the isle to.You could wait and open the doors at the big dramatic part in the song when she stops then starts singing even louder then ever.
