For the past three years I have maintained a father-son relationship with my ex-girlfriend's son. We started dating shortly after he was born and I am the only father that he knows. The relationship between my ex and I didn't work, primarily because she was still in love with the child's, whom I consider to be my son, father and she suffers from what her family seems to think is bipolar disorder. Anyway, during our relationship my ex was always very selfish, evil and spiteful and would always go back on her word. Earlier this month I married the woman of my dreams. I really wanted to have her son (whom I love as if he were my own son) serve as my ring bearer. However, knowing my ex the way I do, I was concerned that she might object or cause problems at the wedding. As a result I thought it would be best not to travel down that path so I opted to have my nephew serve instead. Now she has forbidden me from having any contact with the child. Was I wrong for doing this?

Friends in their 40s are getting married this weekend. They were high school sweethearts but tragically married others and have been through several divorces each. They don't need anything financially. Life in California is good, with all of the good wine, gardens, etc. you can imagine. What do you think would be the gift for such a happy occasion ... this is the marriage they both admit they should have done 25 years ago. Their pride and stupidity got in the way ... no longer.

My sister is getting married next weekend and I'm her matron of honor. I've never given a toast at a wedding and am not sure where to begin. We've never been very close, especially growing up. I want it to be sentimental and thoughtful, not too humorous. Any suggestions? websites out there with speeches written? I don't have time to go buy a book. I just need some help in getting started.

I'm getting married in 2008. My sister and I are at complete odds. She looks at me and tells me she doesn't know who I am but yet when I ask her to go hang out or just call to talk to her she acts like I'm annoying her or inconviencing her. But she didn't want me in her's and has told me so she just did it because I was her sister. I'm like how can she know who I am or expect to be in the wedding if she doesn't spend time with me besides when the whole family is together? I've tried for several months now to spend time with her but she alwasy makes up an excuse. She says it is my fault for my wedding being messed up by her not being in it. And its my fault for her not talking to me or spending time with me. I kind of want her in it but I know I don't want her as my matron of honor. I mean my fiance's little sister will call me out of the blue or IM online and we'll talk about anything and everything and she's 12. My sister and I are seven years apart. It just hurts.

Wedding Gift Ideas? Where do most people register? What unique / interesting gifts have you given / gotten? I need to find a gift somewhere in the $25-$125 range and don't want to get towels or stemware. Any ideas?

I want to just have a VERY small ceremony and my family agrees, but just counting his family and mine, that's already 35 people! We've already decided not to do all the traditional stuff like a dinner, first dance, cake cutting, bouquet throwing, and all that crap. We're even embarrassed about saying our vows in front of everyone. I would rather elope, but that totally cuts out the family. What do I do??

I am having a winter wedding, and for the favors my fiance and I decided to have mini ice scrapers. They will be white with a silver snowflake on them. They are about the size of a credit card with a scraper on one end, and a squeege (sp?) on the other end. And yes, we do live in a state that gets tons of snow every winter. Do you think this is a good idea?

I have heard people say that a bridal shower is strictly for the bride and to get her something like lingere or something sexy and fun. I have also heard that you should get her something off her registry. The bridal shower invitation listed where she is registered. Am I expected to get her two gifts from her registry, one for the shower and one for the wedding??

My fiance and I want to get married next year, probably late spring or early summer. I want to have an outdoor wedding, but haven't lived here that long so am not sure where to have an outdoor wedding where it won't cost much, if anything. Any ideas?

My husband and I have been together for 6 years, married for almost one, and have a one year old child. We are in our early 20's and our parents(neither of whom have ever been married) said that we didn't need a wedding. We are both in university still, so we couldn't afford a wedding on our own. We had a courthouse wedding, but feel as though we were robbed of such a wonderful celebration with friends and family. Is it too late for us to have a wedding??

I was married in December, and need to get my wedding dress preserved. I don't know where to take it and get it back in good shape. Can other brides tell me where they took theirs? Did you get it back in good shape?
