It is a "personal" shower but I don't know her that well and do NOT want to buy her underwear, bras or lingerie! So any other ideas will help. It is both of their second marriages and both are in their early 40's.

My mother has told me that I need to change the date and location of my wedding to accomodate my cousin whose step son (19) is getting married the same day I am in another state. My sister will not atend my wedding because of the date and my mother has cut off ties with me unless I change the date. Am I wrong to not want to change the date?

The reason why I ask that question is that I don't like weddings because to me it's like a funeral. I see people cry in weddings that I been to like the two people are finish. And the weddings that I been to, service was suppose to start at 1pm and bride and groom didn't get to the church unitl almost 4pm. Weddings never start on time where as for funerals, if the start time is 9am, at 9:01am the funeral already started and funerals allways start on time. I don't get it.

We are having a small wedding here in California(100 people), and my mom doesn't want to split the guest list 50/50. She says since most of his family is back east, and she and my dad are paying for the wedding, she should get 1/3 of the list, me 1/3, and my fiance 1/3. Is this correct? I don't want to hurt my fiance's feelings, or his familys'!

My husband & I eloped to Vegas two weeks ago. We're not sure how to tell our friends and family about our marriage. I was planning of just calling everyone on the phone. Is that wrong?
By the way our parents do know.

He does nice things for me all the time, and I know he loves me - we're getting married in December. But I'm always the one planning dates, thinking of new things to do, he never calls and says 'get ready, I'll be there to get you and I've got the night planned'. How do I get him to be more spontaneous and romantic without making him feel bad about how he is now or him feeling like I don't appreciate him? I don't want it to be like this forever, and I know that after you get married the romance and spontaneity goes down anyway.

We are looking for inexpensive ideas that keep with the warm feeling of the season. Websites to purchase the items are helpful :)
