My sister is getting married next weekend and I'm her matron of honor. I've never given a toast at a wedding and am not sure where to begin. We've never been very close, especially growing up. I want it to be sentimental and thoughtful, not too humorous. Any suggestions? websites out there with speeches written? I don't have time to go buy a book. I just need some help in getting started.

A toast that comes from the heart can be short. Of course you need to say a few things but don't get wrapped up in long stories or memories. I bet there will be enough of that to go around. Focus on your sister since she met her new husband, how you have never seen her happier, the first time you met him or how she introduced him to the family and your wish for them in the future, something honest and sincere from sister to sister.

start just writing thoughts down on paper, what you really feel and what you want to say, just write even if it doesnt make sense then go back and try to put it into a speech with the help of a speech wedsite, etc. just make sure they are your own words! good luck!!! i am going to have to do it next year!
