Marriage & Divorce - 20 July 2007

My wife spends more time talking to her mother than to me. She also only shares anything that is really important to her or bothering her with her mother. I only find out about those things if I overhear a conversation. I'm actually considered a good listener, at least by my friends at work, and I do try to make an effort to listen when she does happen to talk to me. Is this normal?

I've been with this man for 15 years, we have two children (12 and 9). He was an active crack addict for the last 7 years. We've lived apart for the last 5 months. He is now in rehab and is a little over 30-days clean. He really seems as if he is serious about his recovery. My friends keep telling me that he isn't on my "level" and that I don't deserve to be mistreated...but I keep thinking along the lines of "forgive, but don't forget...people can change when they really want to". Then they say "even if he stays sober, he'll hold you back" and I'm thinking "How? As long as he has a job, pays bills, takes care of his children, is a partner to me, and keeps his sobriety, why not give him another chance? I mean, look at the time we have together". Doesn't it seem dumb to stay with an active addict for so long, just to leave him as he is working a program? I am interested in your opinions and would like to request that you include the reasons for your answers?

My friend said, in high school he had a bestfriend that was gay and when his parents found out he left and never was seen again. Now for a mintue it sounded normal but when he said he left shortly after to, too go to the army I was stunned. Could he be gay?

So I been talking to a guy off of an internet site.. well we haven't met, just been talking on messenger. Well.. he became very rude and mean but I still loved him.. he used to degrade me and all and then suddenly he becomes nice again. Well he says that if I shave my head that he will get married to me and let me move in.

Well he tells me he bought a ring and wanted me to shave my head, so I shave all of my hair off. All of a sudden all he says is "LOL" and that "you are an idiot"

I ask him why he did that... and he says "Because, I can. You have a shaved head now so no other guy will need to be harassed by you.. lol"

Why would he do this?

My live in boyfriend recently took our child to visit his ex wife (of 4 years). He asked me to join but I declined. By declining the invitation I thought that he would realise how he is hurting me by taking our child to see her. But he went ahead with the visit without me! Also, a few weeks ago, his mother went to visit his ex wife. I was so furious because they do not have any children together yet his family keeps in contatc with his ex wife. What should I do? Should I dump him? Cary on with my silent treatment? Adopt another child? Please suggest something...I am so depressed and putting on weight.

I can not get him out of my head or heart. I am getting my independance back being away from him but I also want him so much at the samet time.
We broke up as we were arguing all the time and we were both unhappy with it. so we agreed that we would split up.

We have had problems for about a year now and seem to be always having arguements.I had an affair which lasted 10 months as he just was ignoring me and my needs(no excuse I know) .I told him so he could walk away from our marrige as the innocent party.It appears that he had also being playing away but with a couple (threesomes) which he confessed to. We decided to try to work things out and put all our cards on the table .I asked him about 2 things that happened 15 years ago...a set of underwear that he bought one christmas in a size 12 (I was a size 20 at the time) which was hidden in his car. He said it was for me but had bought the wrong size and thought it would stretch!! and also a missing condom from a pack of 3 ..this he said belonged to a friend.I did not believe either of these stories. I have spent months trying to sort this out and he has denied everything...last night he admitted it was a druken thing at the end of a couse.

We went shopping last night and I picked out a couple of baby-doll tops. I made the mistake of not trying them on in the store - I didn't realize how deep the 'V' went in front but Hubby was estatic when he saw me wearing them! He said that I'm a hot babe and need to start dressing more like one! I'm sitting here at work with cleavage showing - it's just not me! Any suggestions for a compromise?

I have brought my feeling up to my husband several times and he tells me Im overreacting that they r just friends and he LOVES ME. He goes outside and does LOUD things to get her attention, then they spend hrs talking. Sometimes I join in others I dont. Last week I found out that they exchanged Nextel #s and he called her, then Friday night he had his best friend over and she came out, the 4 of us sat around talking and after awhile I went to bed. After 10 mins I heard him tell his friend to go to the garage for a few and he would call him in awhile. So i got up 2 see what was going on, the 2 of them where sitting face 2 face talking low, I overheard some of what was said. He was telling her about all the "BAD" things I have done 2 him throughout our relationship, most of it was highly exagerated. Husband blames me for his cheating and pending divorce beacuse Aprx.10 yrs before we were married, I broke up with him,dated someone 3 months later slept with him 1 time I ending up back with him,told him, we have since had many arguments about this situation. He view this as cheating and says I broke our bond. I told him before we got married if he was not over the situation not to marry me. The other guy and I are members of the same church he does not come often I attend reguraly. and we have no communication.Before marriage my husband attended church with me and seemed ok with it. After we got married he did not want me to attend that church anymore. I told him that I would leave only if he attend another church with me he told me to stay so I stayed. I was open to leaving until he made threats which I told him I would not leave if he had to act that way. I had offered to leave later he said it was too late. I know I should have left but did I cause him to cheat.

I have been with my current boyfriend for six months and he is always comparing me to his ex who is stunning. He does this in a round about way telling me how she always wore lovely clothes and had a great figure. He then goes on to say that it is inside what counts. Another time he says how much attention she got when they went out together and how much he missed the sex with her when she left him.

I just dont think I can take much more of this. He is still in contact with her and she has just broken up with her boyfriend and so I feel worse than ever. He hardly compliments me and now he says how he has been telling her how great I am. It doesnt make me feel any better. I feel he is playing games with me. He also mentioned that she doesnt have strech marks even though she also has a child. I feel as if I am feeling worse and worse about myself even thought I have lost 2 stone in the last few months. How can I break free even though I still love him.

I got married when I was 16 and now I am 37 and feel that my marriage has always been a marriage of responsibilty. I would love to move on and try to find true happiness and love but I always get guilt trips about how I am going to ruin my kid's lives. (They are 18 & 21). I feel so frustrated that I can't even enjoy life. Then there is the religious aspect that if I just get my life straightened up (no more smoking and drinking) and fully give my life to God that everything will be ok. I am not confused about what would make me happy and content with life but I am not sure that it is faIr to my family and if I am just being selfish. HELP!

And now its decided that we are getting married, now she
said few days back to me,,,,, that she would like to hand around with her best friend which is a BOY of my age.
She never said any thing like this before we decided to get married.
Now what do I do?
Should I get married to her?
Should I talk to her and tell her no way you cannot hand around like this.
OR I dont say any thing, just keep quite
Or some times I think, she will be too busy with me and my family and her family and new world of marriage that she will hardly get time to think of moving around with that boy.
