Marriage & Divorce - 11 November 2006

Her emotionally and verbally abusive husband of 22 years has siphoned off all the equity from the house, found a girlfriend and wants to dump my friend with half the marital debt (from loans he has taken out lately). After being a stay-at-home housewife for all those years, she went back to PT work and earns $150 a week from which she pays for her own food and expenses. He even demands rent, etc. Now that he has a girlfriend, he wants her gone. She is so incapable of doing anything for herself except for showing up for a simple grocery store job and is nearing breakdown. He says he will not pay alimony or give her half the pension (which he can't do by law, I know) and he wants to go through mediation to have her agree. She is so fearful she will do it. She mentioned thoughts of suicide.

How can I help prevent her from being thrown on the streets with nothing? How can I help her?

By the way, we have documentation of his anger problems (he broke a co-worker's jaw, his meds, etc.)

I really gave him my all, I fell in love with him quickly and deeply. Everything was fine and then she being the mother of his child came to him with option of getting back together and he did it. Now, I'm left out with my feelings hurt. I just keep thinking about him, I know we didn't have anything or else he wouldn't have left me, but I'm really hurt. My husband of one year still loves video games, anime, still hangs out with his childhood buddies and loves to stay out late partying and drinking (he has an alcohol "exhaler" installed in his car due to a previous DUI when he was single though). When he sees that I get upset over his non-stop talking about her, he won't talk about her at all. Then we go out to dinner and he has a drink or two and the schoolboy crush becomes evident once again as he becomes very talkative. I think if he has the opportunity to have an affair with her, he will. At this point, I believe it is all him -- not her. She has a serious boyfriend. I'm convinced nothing is going on at the moment. He's home every evening, weekend; no mysterious phone calls, etc. What is the best way to handle this situation? It happened once before with another woman; I did nothing. My wife met a doctor at work....(great, I'm only making $60K) and hasn't looked back once. We even have two children... She was very religious, and didn't give any warning or attempt to communicate any disatisfaction with me. Through out our 14 years of marriage the most we did was take each other for granted. The most I ever did was cuss her out 2-3 times (in 14 yrs) and of course I apologized later. Our family was pleasant, fulfilling, and happy. It's like she won the lottery and left town..... and I am devastated.

well my bf (now husband) cheated on me. and I was done and ready to leave but my heart wouldnt allow it. Well he's army so he is deployed but so is the female he cheated on me with. If you knew this girl, but you arent really friends and you come to find out that her husband is going to strip clubs and then taking strippers back to hotels with his friends to party and to do whatever else, would you tell her? i have a hard time trusting. i don;t like him to watch porn, have any female friends, and get very angry when he looks at another woman. he has lied to me once about an old girl friend, even though they did not have an affair he lied to me about her until i caught him emailing her. do i have a reason to be jealous or am i to possive and obsessed with this?

After 20 plus years of marraige and 2 great kids, the last 3 being sex-less due to what my wife claimed was because of the early onset of menopuse she had an affair. I had become suspect after she started going to work at 3 a.m. for a job that started at 7:30 a.m. I went to her purse to get her keys and found conticeptives. (I had a visectemy 10 years ago. I asked her about it and she lied. The next week I found a reciept for an ept asked and again was lied to. The following week I put a recorder in her car, she called her F-buddy and said things to him that I haven't heard in years. I confronted her again and she finally admitted she was having an affair. She said she would break it off. I don't know what to do at this point. She says she loves me but is not in Love with me??? She does not want a divorce, but refuses to go to counseling. She is on two different anti depressents. And blames that and the meopause on her indescretions. I just don't know where to go from here?

My wife and i married for 14 yrs. helped me financially to establish business with another partner, we owe 80% on investment,she threw me out of the house,claiming i work too much, and dont take her out, the money i usually give her to pay for house she cannot account for, we have 3 children 13,11,and 7, i have to pay children support.
