My brother isn't that good in english class (speech problems), but he's really bright in the other classes. He's in 7th grade, and this is his first D! I demanded his report card after 2 days of saying he forgot it and after I looked at it he was pretty upset and I was too, (worried about him and what would my mom do to him). Now I want to explain this to my mom, but how? I know my mom will ground him and not let him do some activites but how can I just convince her that it is maybe not entirely at his fault, and how to prevent screaming (usually when a sibbling gets in trouble, we all get in trouble)

I am in my mid 30's now. My mother always treated me like a kid. Even now she treats me like one. She was never encouraging me. She always thought the negative and worst of everything. She felt I couldn't do things right or on my own. So I wasn't confident enough about things I did. When I was 13 my mother felt I couldn't take a shower on my own. So my father used to help me with take a shower. When I was growing up my sis & I shared a room. One day she decided she wanted to sleep in moms room with mom & I sleep in the other room with dad. Dad always used to tease me alot. I was his pet. I got upset with my dad for teasing me all the time so I told him to stop out loud. Then I heard my mom say to my sis look at those two like Romeo and Juliet. I still remember it now. I wasn't even allowed to wear a bra until I was sixteen until an aunt said I need to wear one because I am going to high school. I live with mom now & sleep in my dead fathers bed in the same room with mom.

I am getting married soon & my mom still controls me. I get night mares and bad dreams almost every night & wake up in the middle of the night. Is it because I am sleeping in my fathers bed. I wanted to move out my mothers house a month early & live in the new place where I will be living after I get married. The thing is my fincee will not be living there with me. I will be living there alone. Mother things that's a bad idea since people will misunderstand that I will be shaking up with him before marriage. I wanted to move out of my mothers house so I won't get nightmares anymore. But I don't know what do anymore because my mother says no to everything. Even when I was dating my fincee' she was seeking marriage proposal for me & wanted me to marry the man she picked even though they were not good for me. How do I deal with my mother?

I am a single parent of a 20 mth old, and my child's father is not actively involved in her (our) lives. However, his father calls sometimes and just recently he asked me to assist him on a project. Painfully, I want to reject him because I feel that if he can't get his son to be a man and be more involved in his grandchild's life, then he need not to be contacting me for anything else. Furthermore, I don't want my daughter to have anything to do with his family simply because I don't feel that they have her best interest. Is this 'unfair' on my end?

Thanks.

Ok, so, my grandmother died yesterday, and I found out last night. Her funeral is set for Saturday near Pittsburgh, PA.
My husband is due in Raleigh, NC on Monday to swear in for Navy OCS and he ships out for 3 months next Friday. We have been planning for a week and a half now to head to Raleigh on Saturday, swear in, and visit with his family for the rest of the week until he ships out.
I cannot do both, and I am trapped in the middle in southern Maryland. I was looking forward to one more week with my husband before he goes away for 3 months, and on the other hand, my family is naturally expecting myself and my almost eight month old daughter to be in Pittsburgh on Saturday. If I go to Pittsburgh, I will just head into Ohio and stay with my family for a couple of weeks, as I had planned to do after I saw my husband off for the Navy.

I am upset that I might have to suddenly say goodbye to him when I thought I had a whole week left. What do I do? Do I go with him or to PA?

since Y!A felt it necessary to delete my last question. i was being completely serious. can i get some opinions on how people would handle this situation. it's weighing heavily on my mind.

my mother is heavily into drugs. serious drugs. she lives several states away from me so i never see her, never talk to her really. i have very little other family. my step father is also on drugs, but not as serious as she is...but he doesn't help. my 18 year old brother lives with them and i think his experiences with them have royally messed him up. i NEVER talk to him. i'm 25, married, and i had a baby about a year ago. i think my family situation bothers me so much now because my son won't have any family, at least on my side. my parents don't seem to think this is a big deal. and for my entire life, any time i've talked with my mom about anything important, she just blows it off so it's not like i can calmly discuss this with her.......................

Just want to know your opinion. I graduated from college in the spring so I had to buy a graduation cap/gown/hood. OK it was just undergraduate so not really special but still it was kind of expensive and since my younger sister attends the same college that I graduated from after I graduated I gave it to her, telling her when she graduates she can wear it instead of having to buy a new one. Anyways I haven't been home since the summer but a good friend of mine who is graduating this coming spring asked if he could borrow my cap and gown. I said of course, and asked my mother if she knew where it was. After looking in both my closet and my sister's, she told me she didn't see it. I asked my sister where it was, and she said "Oh, I think I threw it away." and sure enough without even asking me they both decided to throw it away. Well I was pretty upset but they don't see what the big deal is. Is it a big deal? When they first told me I was so upset I got hot all over but should I be?

My dad has been with this woman for over 15 years now and I've lived with my own siblings and that half-brother for that long. Thing is, the half-brother seems to have no respect for us. He never seems to think about the consequences of his actions might be or what he makes us feel like. He's 24, doesn't work, goes to University, had psychological problems for a long time... Anyways, he smokes in the bathroom in the basement and his mom lets him do so and also give him $100 per week... And if we talk to her, her only answer is "I don't want argument". And if we talk to him, he makes everything worse. Any advice or suggestion?

I stay at home with my 9 month old daughter instead of working. I kept a job for the first few months after she was born, but it was actually costing us money. So I stay at home. I take care of the house, too, and work from home part-time as a writer and photographer. But my husband resents my "easy" lifestyle (even though he can't handle watching our daughter for more than an hour at a time!). I want him to appreciate what I do, and stop seeing me as "lazy".

check up to find that my disease has spread on down my spine. Doc says I could go 5 - 15 years before surgery would be needed again. I haven't told my husband. This one was so hard on him. Is it wrong for me not to tell him? Everything from this surgery is on track and doing well. Should I tell him I might have to do it again in a different place in the future? It went from my neck to my thorasic (spelling?) spine. He knows I have degenerative disc disease but does he need to know it has already spread?

Long story short: My brother had one night stand with girl and she had a baby. He is a wonderful child and we adore him so. He is 5 now. My brother buys him clothes, jackets, shoes, and takes him out for dinners, entertainment and this all adds up, PLUS he pays for the child support $650. He even has to drive out 2 HOURS to see his kid on weekends.
My family gets to only see our dear nephew 2 DAYS a month. She claims he's always sick, and she wants my brother to come over there to spend time with her and the kid and she makes my brother go on HER job calls. She is using my brother so bad financially and emotionally.
She always threatens legal action to him for NO reason. No one in my family likes her but we give the child everything love attention, care, and buy everything that he needs and he is happy at our home.
My Q in case she pulls a crazy stunt to go to court, what should my brother have receipts, papers, pictures or what in court to prove that he is a good father? HELP!

and he has known since Oct. We have been apart since Aug. and we see each other b/c of our daughter. Well, a week ago, he tells me I'm the one for him and he's been wrong and he wants us to be together, we've been on/off for 6 yrs. I was seeing someone else and stopped and sstarted to think about this. He promised to change and apologized for everything. We hung out for a week, he asked me to stay, I didn't. He held me and told me his most personal thoughts about us and his regrets and made promises. Well, at the end of the week, he tells me he got another girl pregnant. They did it once, and there was a problem with the condom. He's seen her twice since and doesn't know what to do. He's said he wanted to be with me and wants to have the baby as part of his life also. I am so hurt and angry and don't know how I could ever make it work with him? Would it be crazy to try? Has this happened to you before? Please HELP ME!!!!
