Atleast let her know first!! That's quite a dramatic change.
Give her a warning...
If you surprised her, she would probably be pretty upset with you.
Yes, it's your decision to cut your hair. But just let her know beforehand.
It sounds like your gut feeling is telling you to tell her first... since you're asking about it. Go with that gut feeling.

I gotta say something that is kind of peripheral to your question. I'm 50 years old, and come from the generation that had to fight for guys to be allowed to have long hair. Well, from what I can see, most guys are going to lose their hair or have it noticeably thin out by the time they hit 30-40. So why do young guys who have a full head of hair want to shave it and go bald???? Geez, why not enjoy it while you have it? Grow it long, put it in a ponytail, braid it like Willie Nelson, whatever, but why shave it when mother nature will take it away from you as you age?

It's very considerate of you to wonder about talking with your girlfriend first. Running the question by her, would give you an idea how she would react, but it is ultimately your decision. You shouldn't be worried about what others think. If you like shaving your head, go for it. It wouldn't change who you are inside.
Weither she likes it or not, is it her decision or yours?

Unless you were A. an Addonis and she only loved you for your hair or B. you're doing to announce to the world you are skin head - then I see no reason that it is any of her business. I mean what are you supposed to do ask permission?
When my husband and I were married about three years he up and decided to cut his hair short (was longer than mine and absolutely beautiful). I was taken back at first just at the shock of seeming him without his trademark ponytail, but in the end it is HIS hair. I love him no matter what his hair looks like.

I would laugh.
Darn few people have heads beautiful enough that they don't look better covered by hair. That is just my 2 cents.
On the other hand, maybe your girlfriend likes shaved heads, so I think asking might be a good idea - not asking permission, just let her know you are thinking about it and see what reaction she has and then make up your mind.

Get a fake wig that make it look like your head is shaved first and see what the reaction is.

not bald yet trimmed a lot less then an inch. purely did so very last week and it feels tremendous. it really is my third time. looks grotesque regardless of the indisputable fact that it feels tremendous. do not look after going bald shaving my head hair probable is better waste of time then shaving my beard and funds besides. you opt on to purchase a particular razor thats idk like $5.

I think you should let her do it to your head. Tell her that you gonna do it, but you only trust her to shave you. It will make her feel needed and respected as your GF. She may even think that to be cool.

No surprises. ;o) I think that might be a bit much. I'd just tell her you've been wanting to do it and see what she says. You can always tell her if she doesn't like it you can always grow it back. good luck

Ask her opinion 1st. I would go nuts for my guy has long, brown curl hair 1/2 way down his back that I love to play with.
