I was just wondering what should you say to your ex-spouse after a really bad break up, if they decide to call ask how you were doing after awhile? In my situation, sometimes I can't resist to not picking up the phone. Other time, I know that he called, but let the voicemail does the work. When he called though he usually talk business like what I need to do and whatnot...when picking up the phone, I usually don't want to hear those things. I rather hear something goods from him like he ever cared at all, if you know what I mean.

My boyfriend and I will have been together for 2 years in November and I care about him a lot, but he hates that I smoke cigarettes. I quit for about 6 months, but work and other things got me stressed out and I started smoking again. He really wants me to quit, but when he first met me and we started dating I smoked all the time. Don't know what I should do.

Quick background. Rocky marriage w/ on&off counseling. Married life was blissful when I was an agreeable slave/doormat. She's a workaholic executive w/ infrequent/no libido (towards me) that only grudgingly stopped afterwork 1:1 wine ("Business meetings) w/ male friends.

She secretly keeps in touch w/ past-work male friends. Yes, I've snooped (until she changed her passwords) as she had turned secretive & emotionally distant. In snooping I've found she expresses interest in seeing them when they're in town, etc. but nothing explicit & I've not caught more than "hints".

Her interest in me has improved slightly as I've stopped doing everything around the house & started saying "NO". I'm back to hobbies, sports & business. I have guy friends that I do things with but absolutely no female friends.

Should I seek out female friendship for activities (tennis/biking) the wife is too busy for (that she used to do)?

Some people have different preferences, there is nothing wrong with that as long as no ugly racism (isn't it all ugly? :)) is involved but how come? What is the reason? I am just curious as to what the reasons could be and was hoping it could be discussed.

OK, here's my story. I want to start by saying that my parents are wonderful, they love me very much, & I love them. But for a long time I have felt that they don't really care about my goals/interests and I have felt very little support/encouragement from them. I've always gone 2 good schools & have been interested in the performing arts and science. When I was younger, I wanted to pursue acting/singing for many years, but my parents brushed aside my interests and only sprung for voice lessons after I'd begged them for several years. My parents excuses were that they're to expensive & they didn't know if I would put my lessons to use. My brother on the other hand, gets every lesson in every sport, sport camps costing thousands of dollars every summer, but he doesn't express the same committment to his goals/passions like I do. Even now that I'm in college, my parents show very little interest/support in what I choose to do. I really feel so alone. What should I do? Where should I go?

I've wondered whether traditionally the wedding rings are less expensive than the engagement ring. There's always the "two month salary rule" for engagment rings but what about wedding rings?

We're going to a wedding this weekend - it's a very good friend of mine from school days. They sent us an e-mail detailing their wedding list info.
Are we the only people in the world who don't like wedding lists?!
I appreciate that times have changed; people live together before marriage (we did) and so already have the traditional wedding gifts of household items, but I don't like being told what to get!
To me, it takes away my right to give a personal present to the couple which they will always remember is from me/us.
Therefore, I haven't even looked at the list...I have gone and bought a little gift which is unique.
We didn't have a wedding list, and we got loads of great stuff 'cos people had to think. We got loads of lovely candles, and somebody got us a wicker basket filled with bottles of wine! The vino is long gone but we use the basket all the time. One person's present was to take us to the airport and bring us back - Wedding lists NO!!

divorce....
Friend's husband who is overseas was into sexual nude webcam chatting with females, wanting to meet for fun.

Is this reason enough to divorce him? or would you work it out thinking he is lonely overseas?

Before we got married my husband knew I wanted to finish school and to work. I later became pregnant and now he says he wants me to stay at home. He told me he had never had any intention of my working or going to school but did not want me to leave him. I love my husband and I love my child more than anything but I need to be able to go places and work outside of the house to be happy. How can I explain to him that just because I want to work and have a social life doesn't mean I'm abandoning him or our child?

I've known my best friend since I was 6 years old. (He's gay, just ftr, although we're always told we act like an old married couple). Over the years, it's gotten to the point that we're in a co-dependent relationship, and he's pretty abusive and rages a lot. Normally I just have to deal with it, but occasionally he has threatened me and really scared me. I keep trying to leave, but somehow I always find my way back to him. I even have his initials tattooed on my wrist, he's so much a part of me. I don't really know where he stops and I start anymore; but I do know I don't want to live like this.

How can I get away from him, and the relationship, without getting physically or emotionally torn apart by him, and without weakening and going back? He's always sorry for being such a jerk, and deep down he does love and see me in his future (as a friend, as stated he's gay) but I can't just put up with being a door mat any more.

Help?!
