Family & Relationships - 4 August 2007

My fiancee and I are having a terrible time balancing my parent's ideas for the wedding with our own. We believe that since we are paying for most of it (they are buying my dress. that's it) we should have final say on where the reception is held, etc.

My father thinks that the reception hall that we've chosen is too expensive and too far away (from the church and my parent's home). Although it is more expensive than the option he prefers, we are saving and will be able to pay for it without going into debt. The hall is approximately a 30 minute drive from the church.

There have been extensive arguments about this. Last time we spoke to them, it ended with my dad yelling and kicking us out of the house. I haven't spoken to him (although I speak to my mom regularaly) for almost a month and we're going to their home this week to discuss things. Any advice???

(Sorry this is so long...I wanted to be specific.)

My fiance and I have been together for almost 1 1/2 years, and I can not figure out how to get his mother to accept me for who I am, and it seems she loves to point out the things she sees as faults to my fiance, who then points them out to me. I think I am a wonderful person with a lot to share with others. Recently, I admitted to him that I feel intimidated by his mother, because of her sensless nit picking at me or about me. See I am a frshmen and whereever I go I dont fit in and I am a nerd. But I dont wear those weird clothes and stuff. I dont think I also fit in because people dont think tocome up and talk to me because I look like Im like 10 years old instead of 14..So its harder to make friends when they think ur like 6 10 at first. I am a total looser!! lol No seriousley. But anyway I need tips on how to make myself cooler and make a whole lotta friends this year!! Or else all be screwed!!

My dad is not racist but he really does not agree in inter racial relationships. I have dated a guy who was black before and he was really nice and sweet. I feel its wrong that he has the right to control who i date or ill get disowned. My dad loves me but i know that if one day i came home saying i was gonna marry someone who wasnt white it would kill him. My mum would accept it and treat him with respect, and take it into account that its my life and i can make good decisions. Me and Carl were friends in first years of high-school, we lived in the same neighbourhood and went together from home to high-school and back at home at night. We were also class mates.
He's the funny guy, always has a funny question for the teachers, always trying to be the center of attention and make the others laugh.
I had to move from my house, so we stopped going to classes together.
Some months later he started picking on me for apparently no reason. He made jokes on me and also on my boyfriend.
Can you tell me why he picked on us? Don't say is because he likes me, 'cause he has a girlfriend that he really loves.
Oh, and how could I make him stop?
Because next year we'll be class mates in college. And I think he'll pick on me ever more then he did in high-school, because I'll be the only person he knows.

well i was in a relationship for a year and i really loooveeeee this guy but recently we went on a break because we argued too much because he had lied to me alot ...... about tings i didnt like well today we were hangin out we had just gotten back together today i was looking through his phone and he had two numbers for his brother and i asked him why and he said that his brother had two phones....ok later he gets a message from one of the numbers it ends up being the girl he was talking to before we dated ....so she calls back i answered and gave him the phone and she asked who i was and he answered" my girlfriend" but i dunno what to think i had just begun to trust him and he does this ...i want to be with him but its hard
