I know that water is hydrogen and oxygen.. but i want to know what is in it.. In science class we were discussing how there are things in the air and in the water.. a few people in my class decided to look up what was in water and they said that it was really nasty and never told me.. so i was wondering if someone could tell me what's in it that is so sickening. what does it mean when its said that global warming is a 100-year-old probem facing 4-year governments, & why is it a particular problem in trying to prevent global warming?

They know that the planet is warmer, but the factories keep burning the light pollution is horrible as well as many other kinds of pollution. The forests are being cut down and not replaced. No one is planting trees. Wars are waging for oil (and all are guilty). While the rest of us who just want to exist in peace watch in dismay as every message for peace and conservation is ignored for the sake of human greed or laziness. Besides absolute destruction of the planet, what is going to slap the human race into action?....before it is to late.

I'm looking to donate unwanted trophies. There's really no reason why old trophies should just go to the dump. The parts on trophies are usually still in good condition.

350- to 700-word response to this question: As an environmental science teacher, how would you respond to someone who tells you (a) that he or she does not believe in biological evolution because it is "just a theory"? How would you respond if another student states, (b) we should not worry about air pollution because through natural selection, the human species will develop lungs that can detoxify pollutants? In your responses, be sure to provide factual evidence from earth's history (Miller, 2005, pp. 87-90).

From the 1600s to the 1800s there was a small ice age called the Little Ice Age. Do you think that we may just be expriencing warming from coming out of an ice age, be it that one or even a larger one? And if you say it's humans, why? Besides the whole C02 spiele.

Or do you honestly think we can stop the earth from cooling??

The Ice caps are melting its to late they are melting unless someone can turn the A/C on. the only way for man to stop putting CO2 in the air is to knock back about 500 years of Tech. Are you willing to do this?? Honestly dig deep down and answer that everything you buy comes from factories, everything you buy comes from ships, trucks, trains. Wanna give it all up?? For a cycle noone has any control of... We have just recently in the last 100 years been able to see Ice caps we don't know what they looked like past that, do we?? The earth is warming duh, but the earth also cools. And has done so for ever. It was tropical during the Dinosar days, then came a ice covered period. I would hate to see the size of Dino SUV's they must have really warmed the planet up. Haha I also work in this so called oil field as do millions of others. Want to cost all those jobs over this man made myth?? You might lose yours due to more

This question is in response to the answers I received from my first question ( Why are scientists concerned about icebergs melting when simple physics proves that melting ice actually lowers the levels of the water that it resides in). Most answers were decent enough (excluding the arrogant self righteous response from snootymcp), but I'm still not completely satisfied. I understand the logic behind landlocked ice melting, resulting in water levels rising. However, logic also insisits that if the temperatures were warm enough to melt the landlocked ice, the ice that resided in the water would melt as well. This occurence would actually lower water levels. Is it reasonable then, to assume that the landlocked ice would outweigh the effects from the melting icebergs (water bound ice)?

Please make suggestions as to concrete, easy, everyday steps that people could take to gradually but consistently reduce their eco-footprint.

Simple physics show that when ice that is contained in a bowl or glass melts, the level of the water actually declines. Am I missing something here?

A recent report noted, "Without the cooling effect of atmospheric aerosols, it is likely that greenhouse gases alone would have caused more global mean temperature rise than that observed during the last 50 years." http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2193672.ece

So, is the widespread use of aerosols an antidote to global warming? Should aerosol propellants be brought back in deodorants, hairsprays, etc? Should governments and large industries begin introducing aerosols on a megascale to counteract global warming before it is too late?

I found this insect spray that claims to respect the environment and to be less toxic yet effective. The label carries warnings about breathing the fumes, ingesting, etc. but also claims the product is non toxic and not hazardous to health. I would like to know more details about the active ingredient, Bifenthrine, and more specifics about whether this is really an environmentally friendly product.
