I mean I have heard people talking that water is scarce and all those kinds of things but cant we just drink salt water. I know its not good for bones and stuff but we can still survive.

Desalinated water comes from the ocean and will always be available, why are people against it and want recycled water instead? Recycled could still run out and to me seems to need more done it before it can be drunk than desalinated.....

Assume that you live in an area that has a great deal of seasonal variation in temperature an precipitation: for example, dry, cold winters and warm, moist summers. How could you find the age of a tree in such an area? HOw could you determine whether the weather in a certain year in the past had been wet or dry?

This is an article is on Yahoo new right now.

An Eagle in Alaska died today. It died because it was flying to low trying to carry its next meal. The meal was a Deers head, and because of the weight the Eagle was not able to climb fast enough to clear power lines, so the Eagle hit the power lines and was electrocuted.

The Eagle found the Deers head in a landfill. So here is what I'm getting at. Don't you think It is time to shift gears?

Here we had a destroyed Deer whos head was in a landfil, made by people from waste made by people. Then an Eagles sees it as food and in the attempt to survive, it was killed by something that people needed to supply them with electricity.

Not much respect for the environment and bad Philosophy for life in general.

What do you think? Are we doomed or are we going to make it?

First of all I am not against china or any other countries, just wondering. Are the increase in pollution due to the fact that china people (which has the biggest population) are exchanging bicycles for motorbikes, cars and such?

Advocating the use of Fluorescent light bulbs, which cut down on electricity, is one; labeling the town Storm Drains to remind people not to dispose of waste in them is another. Recycling old bicycles to send to 3rd world countries where they would be used is also a good activity....

Please share your ideas so we can make school environmental clubs more effective in taking direct action and educating people about how to live a more “green” lifestyle.

I was sitting in APes today and we just began studying alternative fuel sources. We were going through some of the pros and cons of each and when we came to wind power the only real drawback was that it takes alot of land. I wass wondering if they could combine solar power and wind power in the same area. For example, we usually put wind farms in arid areas where nothing is around. Now wouldnt that be a perfect place for solar panelss since there is nothing blocking the sunlight in the arid areas. Could they put solar panels on the wind turbines or combine a solar power tower to the wind turbines. FYI, the power tower is when you have a bunch of mirrors reflect to a high tower. Any thoughts?

I have to do some research for an assignment (due in tomorrow!) and I can find lots of stuff saying what will happen if they do but nothing on why they want it in the first place other than for electricity.
Thanks.
