Its my first time working and I've decided to work in the kitchen. You see, my dream was always to become a chef. So i just finished high school and currently waiting to get into college. But in the mean time, I plan to work and earn some extra cash. But the boss in the restaurant that I'm going to work in said that I'm going to have to deal with a lot of yelling by the customers and co workers. This really scares me. how do i deal with it? Please Help.

Thanks in advance.

Is a business degree even necessary?
Question Details: i worked in this radio station (business dept.) and i read these articles about the ppl who worked there and this guy didn't even get a degree related to business...it had to do with something due to the weather!! and the word that was spread inthe office "it's who you know not what u know"...I think employers care about experience FAR more and a degreee is just a nice thing to have but not necessary ...I mean look at the ppl who work in business don't even have businessdegrees!! and DON'T tell me some of the ceo's have degrees that is true but I NEVER SAID all people...it is stupid to compare the top notch students in top notch schools to the average student

Ok I know there are many more variables for admission to competitive schools, but based off these few factors, what are my chances at Notre Dame (next year, regular decision)?

33 ACT (w/ no prep, taking a class hopefully getting a 34+)
2150 SAT (sending ACT)
99th percentile PSAT (doesn't matter much but will probably be at least commended)
98.5 GPA (usually valedictorian has a 102)
ALL honors and AP since frosh year--always highest level One of five juniors to be taking both junior honors and senior AP science (taking two Senior AP sciences next year)
President of two clubs
Writer for school paper
2 years on student gov
Will definitely be in NHS
In theater (stage crew and in actual production)
I'm currently applying for weekly volunteer jobs, so assuming I get one in January and work 10 hrs a week...
Irish Catholic
I'll be putting A LOT of work into admissions essay.
Any advice/estimations (especially from ND students/alum) would be really appreciated I'm already freaking out about it

I will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in August of 2008. I want to become a firefighter but am recently burnt out. I want to move to Oahu for one year and live my dream. I have wanted to move to Hawaii since I was at least 17 (now 22). I am this close to buying my one way ticket for September. Only thing is I am worried about my parents, they want me to get my paramedics license, and get everything now. They are sort of strict. I have quite a bit of money in the bank and will be using that. I feel if I tell them what I am doing they will say no and not let me go. I think if I buy the ticket now, wait until May when I graduate and tell them, it would be too late for them to stop me. I want to have a roomate before I move to tell them I found a place. I am just worried about my parents stopping me from doing this and not letting me use my bank money. Plus I will be 23 when I leave and just turn 24 when I get back. What should I do?

I really want to go to the University of New Mexico (UNM) but I am afraid I won't get in because I read on their website that to get in you need to have a 2.25 GPA in all your high school courses, I am a good student but I kind of had a bad spot in my life during my sophmore year and so I did not earn the 2.25 GPA in four of my classes but have the 2.25 GPA + in all my other classes, so do you think they will reject my application because of this? Do you have any advice on what I should do next?

I applied to both UofM and MSU... I'm leaning toward UofM but I'm not sure. I'd like to do the honors program which both have. I want to go into political science/pre-law.

Any input/insight to help my decision process?

I'm really clueless about what UC's require, but I still really want to get into one.

Um...so I'm really in a slump about my grades and I don't have all A's this year as a sophomore (A-, B-, B-, B+, A, A) which disappoints me. The B's that I do have though are in AP classes (AP world history, AP biology) and I hear that in UC they add extra points for AP. I'm also not doing any extra stuff right now like clubs, sports, community service.

I hear its tough to get in...So can I still get in? Do I have a chance? Any recommendations, advice? I plan to join some community service clubs during my junior year...

Just asking, so I can be prepared. I don't want to wait. I'm planning what I'm gonna do and need to know what I need.

Also, I'll know what kind of books they are and know what I need to study.

Thanks ;)

How do you know if it is unweighted or weighted? Also what is the difference between unweighted and weighted GPA and what do colleges focus more on? I take honors and AP classes so I don't know if that will make much of a difference.

am a junior at a private Catholic high school. As I stand, my GPA is at 3.765 with a rank of 39 out of 115. I haven't taken the SAT yet but I'm looking to make anything from 1750-2000. I take 2 or 3 AP classes per year and the rest of my courses are advanced. I am involved in around 5 extra-curriculars including newspaper editor, student council secretary, and my school's student recruiting club. I am also very involved in my church (Catholic) and am the director for a teen retreat. I am a first generation African-American college student. I am looking for a medium to large school in Texas or Virginia with a reputation for academic excellence and one that supports a well-rounded student. Also, I'd like to think of some top tier schools that I could apply to with my qualifications (These schools need not be in Texas or Virginia. I am looking to major in liberal arts, political science, communications or law.
I appreciate your suggestions and thank you very much.

I'm a freshman and so far this semseter, if dont maintain a b AP World History, I'll have a 4.0 flat GPA. I know i can do better than this, i've become more responsible as the year progressed, plus i've had a few distractions this semseter =P. Assumming that i get straight a's from now on, and i take a ton of honors classes, plus participate in school activities, can i make it into a good business school like Wharton or Northwestern?
