Higher Education (University +) - December 2007

I've been researching colleges and I fell in love with Dartmouth.
I am a junior and I have a 4.1 GPA weighted and a 3.9 unweighted. I am going to take the SAT soon and I'm praying for above a 2000. I take AP Spanish and English. Next year, I'm going to take AP Government in addition to that. My school is an extremely competitive private Catholic School. I'm going to take US History, Spanish and English subject tests.
I am in NHS, Campus Ministry, National Art Honors Society, Operation Smile and CSF.
I have also been a Girl Scout for the past 10 years and I have earned my Gold Award organizing volunteer groups at the Ronald McDonald House. I have about 160 service hours (so far) and do steady volunteering with an underprivleged school and the house.
I have also earned the Presidental Service Award, 4.0 Awards, and my Girl Scout Bronze and Gold Award.
I am also billingual Hispanic girl. My parents are immigrants from Bolivia and El Salvador and I will be the first to go to college.

I am a junior in high school, and I am very interested in attending Yale. I have a 4.3 and an currently ranked second in my class at a rigourous private school. I scored a 34 on the ACT and a 2230 on the SAT. I am an officer of our KEY Club and SAVE. My team was state champions in CC and I have qualified to state in swimming. I am interested in swimming for yale. What are my chances, and what else can I do to make myself a better candidate?

So, I'm a good student in NHS with academic achievement awards, perfect attendance... I've gotten all straight A's with a few B's in high school and 2 C's. Today I found out that I got another C+ in my AP Bio class. I'm going to take Bio at St. Louis University and this just kills me! I'm disappointed in my self and I don't know how I'm going to tell my mom.

I'm afraid these 3 C's are something that I'm going to regret when I'm older!!! I've always been a STRAIGHT A student UNTIL I got to high school. Some other students have straight A's who are taking basic classes. I'm a senior with mostly college level classes!

I'm so ashamed!

I'm studying outside the US, but I'm planning to get a job back there. Do i still need to study again there in US to be allowed to take the professional licensure examination?

I'm hoping to transfer after spring semester for sophmore year, i'm a freshman now....
i'm at a big 10 school right now(not u michigan or nwestern)

3.77 college gpa(still waiting on a course grade)
-finance major
-spot volunteering at University sponsored events...20+ hours
-part time job 10 hours a week as a dishwasher
-taking 3 200 level courses next semester(1 right now)
-low sat scores......1180/1600....(sigh) ..3.2 hs gpa
-bible study group

ok i really screwed up my freshman year GPA because my 9th grae GPA was only a 3.7. I know now my chances of highschool validictorian is gone even though i have a 4.3
if i graduate in the top 10% would that look good? possibly even in the top 5%?
im in 10th grade but i need to work ahead of time

also is there a validictorian in college?

Hey everyone,

I am living and studyin in Malaysia. There are these two different colleges with American degree programmes here.

One of them is cooperating with Southern New Hamshire University, the other one is cooperating with Upper Iowa University. I cant be sure which university provides better programme or which one of them is more recognisable(?)

i am thinking to take business studies or Communication. Never lived in USA so please advise me which university would be a better choice.

I am finally going back to college. I am going to be a history major. The only colleges that offer the program that i want (Ancient history) I cannot afford and will not get financial aid for. I am going to a community college and have to start with courses like Western Civilization witch is fine. My real question is can I do ancient history on line anywhere and what in the world am I goingt to do with a degree in History? I don't want to teach.

Does anyone know what Community College is best to prepare you in the field of Psychology? I live in LA County by the way so anything in Los Angeles would be appreciated. I will be attending next Fall/2008. I really don't know where to apply. I was admitted to Cal State LA but I think I will work myself up since its too... expensive. That's the only reason why im considering a Community College first since its affordable. Any tips.....

I JUST GRADUATED LAST WEEK WITH HONORS. I WAS 2ND IN MY CLASS. I HAVE TWO DEGREES, ONE IN MASS COMMUNICATIONS AND THE OTHER IN ENGLISH. 3.8 GPA, INVOLVED IN LOTS OF ACTIVITIES, HAVE WORKED IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY ALL 4.5 YEARS OF COLLEGE.

My major is accountant. I just finished Accountant 101, it is the first class in Accountant course. I know that it is a good way to build experience in accountant jobs in colleges. I owe a university a bit of money and am currently paying them back. Unfortunately, they won't release my transcripts until I do. I didn't finish the semester so I have no credits from them, but I'm afraid they'll keep me from attending another school if that school requires transcripts from all universities.
