You would do that to become a psychologist.

To become a psychiatrist, you'll have to go to med school after getting your bachelors.

Do you want to work more with medicine (prescriptions) and make lots of $$$.....or do you want to counsel people?

To become a psychiatrist, you can major in any area -- but you need to take all the Pre-Med classes. Biology or chemistry would be the best choices. It would probably help to take several psychology classes.

After graduating, you need to go to medical school for four years to become an MD.

After becoming an MD, you would then enter a Psychiatric residency program that usually lasts about four years.
