If you are becoming a notary for the benefit of your employer, yes, if you would otherwise be working at that time (or if you are on an hourly wage, rather than salary). If the employer is being nice to pay for training and supplies, but your primary use of your notary commission will be outside the realm of your job, no. I did my training on a Saturday.
