I go to a boarding school and have recently been acceptted into college. I have the time management thing down and I dont need to worry about not havingmy parents tell me what to do, but what other things should i be prepare for in college

One of the biggest problems I see with new college students is that they kinda go nuts with the freedom. Because most new students are used to going all day every day and in college your class schedule is so open, a lot of students seem to think that they can go to class on this day and that day, but they don't really need to do much else in the way of studying or homework. And it's not always the not so great high school students who do this. Just as often, if not more, it's the students who thought high school was too easy. They tend to think college will be the same way. Just keep your head, don't take too many classes at first, and you should do fine.

In college you are given a lot of independence. You have up to a month before exams in many classes, don't get behind in studying though. Look at your syllabus in each class, and keep up with your reading. Make sure to show up to each class. Also, do not throw your life away with selfish pursuits involving drugs and alcohol. Stay focused, don't get caught up in the party life. Work on being a well-rounded student; volunteer for the community, get involved in the Work Experience program, get active in clubs, etc.

To achieve success in college requires the right attitudes and good learning habits. Participate in class discussions. Excel in everything that you do in class.
