Michigan has a much better national reputation than Michigan State.
That said, you probably will have better chances to stand out at State. Competition for leadership opportunities at Michigan is much tougher.
They're both solid schools; you won't go wrong choosing either one. Remember that wherever you go, college is what you make of it - and there is a lot more to college than classes and exams. Congratulations on being admitted to both of these fine schools!

I think U of M is a better school. UMich gets a lot more endowment (dontations and funding) than MSU. US News ranks U of M at #3 out of all the public universities in the nation.
I think you should go to U of M you can get in.

Wait and see if both accept you. If they do and by that time you have not made up your mind, I suggest you go personally to each campus and meet with a director of the program you will go into. Have all of your questions written down when you go. Once you have gone to both listen to your instinct. It will tell you where you will be happiest. I did the same thing when I went to college.
Good Luck and Congrats on making the move to higher education!

There are eight states beginning with the letter M, and almost all of them have an MSU/U of M. Care to be more specific?

U of M?
University of Maryland?
University of Minnesota?
University of Massachusetts?
University of Missouri?
University of Mississippi?
University of Montana?
University of Michigan?
University of Maine?
In all of these states, U of M is a better school than MSU. Since you are incapable of asking a clear question -- you might be better off at MSU.
