Higher Education (University +) - May 2007

Hi, I'm a student who is in the IB diploma program.
So that's 3 higher level subjects and 3 standard level subjects. I found out that credit is only given for Higher level subjects though.

In every University website I've seen, the office of undergrad admissions recommends certain subjects and a certain amount of 'units' to it.

Can someone please help me explain what these 'units' are? And also what 'social studies' is?

Also, as I am only allowed to take 6 subjects in the diploma, what subjects do you recommend I take? I'm already signed up for Maths studies standard which has intoductory calculus, chinese as a foreign language standard, chem standard, history higher, econs higher, and english higher.

do you think that that is sufficient for american universities?

Its for school...... It needs to be about these three topics together in one poem: Adolescence( in general), New adolesence experiences , and adolesent memories.

The requirement of the poem is very simple: rated PG, 4 stanzas with 4 lines in each stanza ( a total of 16 lines). (this poem does not need to rhyme). Thx this is a real important grade to me.

What do you think of befriending a college teacher and writing a heartfelt letter about how you feel at the end of the semester? And also... she acts like she is my friend already in a way. We are taking her out to eat at the end of the semester and she agreed to go. I really admire her and want to be her friend. What do you think?

What's the difference between the two and why do people choose "University of" over a "State University". Ex: University of Texas and Texas State University (The use of Texas doesn't matter, it's just an example)

My husband is thinking about attending pharmacy school but we don't even know where to start. He'll be getting his MS in chemistry in one year.

When do we start applying?

Should he take the PCAT?

Is tuition very expensive? Are scholarships offered?

How long does school last?

Is there a huge choice in which program to get into? I mean, are there master and doctorate degrees, etc.?

Where are the best schools?

How much do pharmacists get paid?

Links are helpful.

not necessarily graduate from college, but just actually attend.

I have 2 more years of high school. I have been taking Astronomy this semester, at a community college with a "B" grade average. I've checked 3 college courses dealing with Journalism and 2 on Screenwriting. Got the text books from their library on each of the courses (2 at a time) and discovered I can learn college level studies. A professor stated if I can do it, I should take the courses with approval of the high school instructors to get letters of recommendation from them. What do you suggest? High school isn't that necessary for me. For others, yes. After all, its what you can produce in those fields, not what you learn outside those fields, like courses having nothing to do with what I want in college.

I was reading that not all medical schools require a bachelor's degree in order to get in... so I was wondering... what are some tips/ways that I can get in without getting a bachelor's degree because I want to become a Radiation Oncologist and that takes 13 years to achieve...and it would be 11 if I get accepted with just an Associates degree in Science. Thanks!

I have been working at this place for about a year. I started as customer service and then they moved me to programming after they found out I am a computer science major. I haven't really been looking for jobs elsewhere due to being busy with school and work. Is this a good amount? I live in the midwest.

I am still in school. Here is how my career plan is going right now. Right now I am in 11th grade. I am also doing "Running Start" at the same time. Basically I go to High School and some college at the same time. Its not a university, just some community college. But it allows me to get an AA by the time I graduate from High School. So I will have my 1st two years completed of University while in High School. Saves Time and Money. But I can only go to University of Washington this way

Not the greatest university in the world, but its still pretty solid. I am thinking about doing really really well there and get done in 2 years. Then I am going to a top tier bussiness school. What do you I'll need to get there? And can I go there straight after or do I need like some work experience...

And is plan ok?

I am confused about Undergraduate college, Buss. School, MBA, and their importances....vs. each other

Any help?

My GPA is 3.0, which isn't very good and could've been better. For my SAT i got a 600 in math , 610 in reading, & a 600 in writing. I have also taken the time to write an amazing essay. I have been involved with various organizations throughout all my high school carreer such as DECA, Habitat for Humanity, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Bussiness Professionals of America, and Spanish Club. I have also served about 200 hours of voulunteer work. Despite my low GPA what are my chances of getting into Boston University? and if needed do i need to get my SAT scores higher , or are the reletively good enough?

I did not consider a major until now because friends and counselors always told me I have time to decide a major/career in college, but I wanted to get a head start. I stumbled upon Pharmacy and that is now the only occupation I am interested in at the moment. I found out a month ago the deadline for pre-pharmacy was in February and I cannot transfer into the program.. I wanted to know can I still become a pharmacist without pre-pharmacy? And if I can what major would lead me to that and help me with the PCAT... plz help if you are a pharmacist... pharmacy student...
