Hey all,

A friend of mine is getting personal tutoring for 1hr/week from a college prof this summer. The prof is a family friend and doesn't want to charge him, but we were thinking it's only reasonable. How much should he pay a college-level tutor for 1hr/week?

Thanks!

Ok, I'm a junior this year and my cumulative GPA is about 3.2 last time I checked, but I'm about to get a 2.98 GPA this quarter, I'm not in any honors classes. I've done at least 50 hours of community service, I'm in hs band, I'm almost done with my Eagle from boy scouts, I don't play any sports, I'm taking the SAT and ACT and both I know I'll do well on. The college I'm going for is BGSU and I'm wondering if there's any chance I would be able to make it in. I choose it because my mother works there and I would be able to get free tuition.

If I retake my sophmore year (the year that I made three F's) and then make straight A's throughout the rest of high school, I will have a 3.5 GPA. But If I don't redo it, and just move on to my Junior year, i'll have a 3.2 if I don't make anything else but A's. What should I do?

I went to Kindergarden late because of my Birthday and if I stay behind, I won't graduate with the class of 2009 anymore and I also will be two years behind.

But If I don't do this, I'll never get to go to college. I'll have so many more choices if I stay behind.

Do colleges consider if you repeat a grade? Would it look worse or better on my transcript?

Do I have other options like Summer School or something?

The tension is killing me. I sent out 2 applications for post bac on April 22. One deadline was April 24, the other was May 31. I called the April 24th one a week later to ask when could I know my results. They told me very latest June 1. Well I found a messageboard where people are talking about the 2 schools I applied to. Everyone who applied to the 24th school said they either got a secondary and an interview or they have heard nothing. SInce I haven't heard anything I'm assuming rejection. I called the 31st school yesterday. They told me they are currently screening applicants and doing interviews. Since they've had my application for a month and I haven't heard anything from them I assume I've been rejected. Is is safe to assume I've been rejected from both schools? A really important decision for me next week hinges on whether I got accepted or not.

Do colleges have a system to know whether or not you have attended somewhere else and force you to show your transcript?

As a Sophmore, so far I have amassed a Cumulative 4.1 GPA taking an Honors English and AP US History class this year. My Class Rank is 12 out of 528 students. Next year I plan to take AP Govt. and AP Stats and Spanish my senior. I am a varsity athlete in wrestling and i have a shot at placing next year. I participate in our state recognized A'Capella Choir
Every Sunday I am a bing caller.
Also plan to be in NHS next year and I am in a group that welcomes the freshmen the first day of school
With a these stats, would most colleges accept me?
I fear that some colleges would not even look out me.
What is your opinion?

I would really appreciate some feedback! :)
I'm 25 and will be 26 when I start college. I was home schooled as a child and still live at home (cultural thing, I can't wait to move, lol!).
I don't want to be the college joke pretending to be 18, but I'm curious how far off my experience will be from the typical college experience. I don't dress like a preteen but I dress normal/young hip and look young for my age. Can any 18-21yr olds share their view (honestly) on how they view older students or any older students share their college social experience?

P.S
I did very well with my SAT and I study incredibly hard so I am not going only to "hang" out. I've always been mature for my age so I'm not expecting wild sex and drunk nights.

I'm a single mom with college and I'm starting to feel like it's not going fast enough for me. I know I know I should keep the pace but I really need a career type job. Is there any trade school I could go to and take my college credit with me so that way it's not like I'm starting all over again?
