There are differences in structure, but the quality is similar. I'm an American professor who spent the first few years of my career in Canada. Canadian schools have, over time, borrowed from both the U.S. and English systems in interesting ways. I taught at two schools in Canada, and one was trying to affiliate itself more with Canadian schools, while the other shunned other Canadian schools in order to be perceived among the elite of North American schools. One offered a 4-year degree, while the other was 5. One graded on a 4-point scale, while the other used a 100-point scale. In speaking with my Canadian colleagues recently, some have commented that they felt that the drive toward accreditation had forced them to adapt to U.S. standards, and they weren't too pleased about it, but it may mean that Canadian schools are now more like U.S. ones now than they were when I taught there.
