When I was in high school, I did a program similar to the one you're describing, but I lived in the dorms for 6 weeks. It was a summer program and we took classes with regular students at the college.

If your program is anything like the one I did, you should be surrounded by overachievers whose tend to be fairly studious. Yes, dorm life is a big adjustment, and we all enjoyed our freedom (late night parties, hooking up, etc.). but when it comes down to it, there will plenty of places and opportunities to study. The library should be available to you. Most dorms have study lounges and quiet hours. And if your roommate won't shut up, you can sic the RA on him.

If you need structure, set a schedule for yourself. Set specific times for studying (like 8 to 10pm, or whatever). Find study buddies in your classes (or if you are in some performing arts program, find people who want to rehearse).

You should know your own level of discipline. And you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. After all, it takes an ambitious kind of student to want to devote a chunk of summer to schooling.

yes first come up with a route from the dorm to the place where you will spend alot of time I would include classrooms food areas places where you can study ect. walk these routes a few days before you NEED to be there. Wear comfortable shoes in the dorms if you wanna get work done your best bet is to wake up early when the college students are still asleep from the night before. night time is a hard time to get things done in a dorm because there is alot going on. make Friends with people in a dorm near you (even if your only there a few weeks it can get lonely)

good luck and HAVE FUN!!!

You'll survive dorm life just fine. Ask any college student out there. Dorm life probably equates to college freshman. I tell my younger brother this all the time, he a senior in HS. From the time you are accepted to the time until you are a sophmore in college. Those are your golden years. Carefree and relaxed. Nothing to worry about. You already got in. Dorm life is all about underaged drinking, experimenting with recreational drugs, dorm hall promiscuity, filling up your laptop harddrives with porn D/L'd from your newfound college highspeed internet, beefing up at the free gym, and gaining the freshman 15 from staying up all night watching Adult Swim with cheap XL pizzas and beers, and consequently missing your classes and bombing your midterms until you finally adjust and learn in time to barely pass the class. Not that I approve of all this. Just enjoy your first year. Don't worry so much about the classes. Trust me. Is anyone else with me on this?
