The social workers I know don't make a lot of $, and their work can be more than a little depressing. Maybe study early childhood or adolescent psychology and go the private practice route. If you wind up working for a county as a social worker or pschy. you're going to find a lot of people not nearly as smart as you making decisions based on what is best for THEM, not you or the kids.

Best advise: you've got a lot of time to figure it out....don't rush.

You seriously don't need to know right when you get in college. In fact, since you're so young, you have even more time to think it over. Real estate would be pretty risky, especially if you'd be doing it for ONLY people with kids. Have you considered early education/elementary school teacher? Or how about a pediatrician? You've got plenty of time. Just relax. Go to college, take some classes, get some jobs and volunteer work under your belt and find out what you really want to do.

Social workers don't make much at all. Real estate is totally hit or miss. You could become a child psychologist but you need at least a master's so that's 6 years going at an average pace. Don't fret too much. The first year of college is nearly the same for everyone. Meet professors and older people. Chat about what they do or want to do. No worries, mate. =)

Well, social workers make very little money, and real estate agents don't need a college degree. I'd say neither of those fit your goals. Don't worry about what you'll major in before you start college- you'll change your mind anyway. Just go take a broad range of courses and see what you like.

The reality of college is this: you don't need to know exactly what you want to do. Most people don't, especially those as young as you. We somehow have developed this mentality that we need to know exactly what we want to do for the rest of our lives by the age of 17, and it's simply not feasable. You may change your mind (and your major) a bunch of times before settling, and that's okay too. Just relax and remember that you have plenty of time. My suggestion is enroll in classes that sound interesting to you, and talk to the professors about career opportunities and pros and cons about the programs.
