I have a Sony DVP-NS400D. When I insert a dvd the display says 'no disc'. I'm using genuine bought dvds from the correct region (discs it used to play ok). It recognised and played a head cleaning disc no problem. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

It was announced at CES that Comcast and TiVo were jointly working on an HD TiVo Box (Series 3) that was due out sometime in 2006. This was the last post on the topic that I know about => http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/16/tivo-series-3-hd-dvr-in-beta/

What month will the box be available to Comcast subscribers?

I have been transferring my VHS library to DVD, using my Pioneer DVD recorder, DVR-310, and using DVD-R blank discs made by Panasonic, Memorex, etc. Yesterday, I read that recordings such as this have a shelf life of from two to five years. Is this true? If so, it's pretty discouraging. I thought this media (DVD) insured many years of data preservation.

I've got a TV+DVD Player combo Deccacolour DT4DT90S.
In the instruction manual, "SEARCH: Search menu will be
displayed if you press SEARCH button. If you enter a time value,
DVD will be played starting from this point."

However, I couldn't find any information on how to enter this
"time value"; simplly pressing number buttons did not seem
working.

At first it was Mid-2006, now I heard form customer service that it's "later this year". Does any one know for sure? Why are they being so hush-hush about this?

I have a new DVD-R for my system and I need a good FREE conversion tool to convert my video files to DVD format so that I can burn them and watch them. Also, I would like to take home VHS movies, put them on my system, edit them, possibly soundtrack them, and convert them to DVD as well. Im willing to pay a reasonable price for the software for the home movies. What is reccomended and how is VHS to DVD conversion done. Any links you can give me would be great! Thanks in advance!

Are there any DirecTV Techs out there that can help me resolve this error? Most of the channels we have no issue with, unfortunately it is not consistent on which channel this error message will appear. Most of the time the channel comes in fine, but at the bottom of the screen this blue box with the error message is there for about 5 minutes and then will disappear unless you change channels and then it is back for another 5 minutes. Other times the channels we have previously been able to watch are now dark except for the blue box and error message. I called DirectTV tech support last night and she had us reset the DVR by unplugging it for about 20 secs and then letting it power back on. That did not fix it. She also had us check for obstructions and we verified there is nothing in the way of the dish. She couldn't tell us what the error message meant and her only suggestion was to sign up for a year maintence agreement and have a tech come out.

I have a Series 2 Hughes Directv DVR (SD-DVR80) and I also recently got a Vonage account. I discovered after I set up my vonage account and dumped my old telephone company that my DVR is having lots of trouble making its weekly call using my local dial in number, unlike before I got Vonage. I am trying every dial prefix and call waiting prefix I can find on the internet without any success so far. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had the same problem with this model and if you ever found a solution without hacking. I'd rather not do that.
