I bought an amplifier and hook them all together through that. I have added a tape player, two satellite boxes, a second VCR, and I still have more jacks to add more stuff. I also have 5.1 stereo.

I don't have an RF modulator, but I can record from the TiVo or satellite box to both VCRs.

Go to Radio Shack and look at what's available. The employees there are more likely to know what they are talking about and will be able to give you some ideas you what to look for. Look at a few models and tell them you need some time to make up your mind. Then visit a cheaper joint, where the service won't be as good, and buy something similar.

I got mine at PriceGrabber.com They have a good selection and offer prices from several stores so you can get the cheapest one. If you want to save on shipping and handling then check out what is available and buy it in a store. But, remember if it does not have a description then you are buying it blind.

For the cheapest deals go to eBay.com or amazon.com, but buyer beware. You had better research the item first (visit the brands web site and look it up or talk with a Sales Representative that you trust), most buyers won't take it back, and if they do then you still have to pay shipping and handling both ways.

in order for you to record a dvd to vhs you need a "RF Modulator". this will diable the digital security in the dvds. And to hook all things up i think you will need a selector switch. hope this helps.. good luck
