I have a Cablevison High Def DVR. The software is terrible. Why does TIVO only offer High Def for Direct TV. When will it be available for cable? I can't wait too much longer.

For the past two or three years, I've been transferring my VHS movie collection and home movie collection to DVD-R, thinking that these discs would last for years. Now, I've heard rumors that data stored on DVD-R's (Memorex, Panasonic, Pengo, etc.) might not make it past the five year point. Anyone know if this true? If so, it's pretty discouraging.

Do you like it? Is it working well? It's pretty cheap, was it worth it, or has it been giving you problems? I need some input/feedback. Thanks!

So far the only way I've seen to change it is to go into every single ep. and select Keep until: I delete. There must be a way to change this overall without me having to constantly select each one. I keep thinking I have new eps and realizing its one I used to have but the DVR got rid of.

I purchased a Panasonic DVD recorder and was very disappointed to find out that it doesn't work with Dish Network. I have to manually change the channel each time before it records. This is very frustrating. I know I can buy one from Dish Network, but I was wondering if there are any good ones with a hard drive which I can buy in stores.
