Sounds like you may need to reset (or perform a hard reboot) the unit. If it's an older unit you might want to consider a new one if the reset doesn't work. I recently had some problems with mine and learned from a repair tech that TIVOs are made so cheaply that often times they will cannibalize one unit to fix another.
If you have the TIVO service, you might need a software update. Perhaps your unit hasn't called to get an update in a while (which also happened to me as part of a recent problem).
Check your owners manual trouble shooting section and see if there is a related topic. If that doesn't help, call the manufacturer's tech support department.
The worst case scenario is that the unit is unfixable. Hope that's not the case!
