I am not a parent but I was a teenager not to long ago and got away with a lot more then I should of. I think that taking everything away from him at this point might only make it worse. How ever taking away his phone and the things he can use to talk to her would be a good option. Even try to sit him down and point out the bad things that he is doing to him self and his friends by being with this girl. Let him know that there is some one out there that every one will like even him. Also I am with one of the other people that answered this. His friends being concerned said things to you about it. The only time my friends opened up to my parents is if something was really wrong with them and I made them say something. They need to learn that you are the mom not the friend

TIVO is simply a GNU/Linux computer built for multimedia based upon MediaKnoppix, located at http://livecdlist.com

That DVD player, recorder, is probably a computer part available for about $50 to $125, depending upon how gullible you are, try http://pricewatch.com for comparison shopping...

If you, the MOMMY, can't watch over your son, then, sometime soon, we will probably read of his demise in a mop bucket, or from a sudden fall, or chasing a ball into the street.

Stupid people shouldn't breed. The DVD incident is probably just another irresponsible item in your trail of irresponsibility life.

Too bad for the innocent children, that there are inattentive parents, like you!

Here's what you do. Have the box in front of you while you call the 1800 number for service (I guess that's the Tivo customer service number). Tell them that your Tivo is broken and you need to have it repaired. More than likely, they will ask you for the serial number, so that is why you should have it in front of you. Odds are, they will ask you to send it in for repairs and not charge you. If they say that they will charge you for the repair, just tell them that it's not worth it to you and you would rather just call your cable company and get a DVR from them. They should repair it for free at this point. Worked for a friend of mine.

It depends on the service she has...if she has a life time membership it is only good on that box, so you need to get it fixed. If she pays month to month, you can get her another one. Check eBay, they really are cheap now days. Any way you go if she is your friend it will be OK....But I will say i would be crying if anything happen to my TIVO, it has changed my life. LOVE IT

First, tell your son that he should not be playing with your friend's Tivo system in the first place. Next, tell your friend what had happened and offer him or her to pay for it. If your friend is very understanding and forgiving, he/she could probably take it in to have it repaired.

You might try calling the satellite provider. My 2 yr. old son broke my satellite remote that had the tivo buttons, etc. and when I called DirecTV they sent me another for free. Maybe they have a discount for a reconditioned one. Good luck!

you may be able to find a place that can repair it depending if when he pulled it out if it damaged the inside of the dvd player or not if it did then it might not be repairible if he just pulled the tray out then im sure it can be fixed

Take it to an electronics store like BestBuy or Circuit City before trying to buy a new one.

Sorry but you will have to replace that one. This will be a valuable lesson to you so that when you are at peoples houses you won't let your son mess with things he shouldn't be messing with. Hard lesson to learn with a little one.

I would replace it. By fixing it, you never know what other problems could arise. It's best to be up front and tell your friend what happened. Tell her that you will buy her another one.
