So far the only way I've seen to change it is to go into every single ep. and select Keep until: I delete. There must be a way to change this overall without me having to constantly select each one. I keep thinking I have new eps and realizing its one I used to have but the DVR got rid of.

I'm talking about when I choose a subscription to record all new episodes of one show. This is directv, not tivo.

Most of the answers thus far have applied to the DIRECTV Tivo units and you have the newer DIRECTV DVR which does not have any affiliation with TIVO. There is no such thing as a "season pass" except on TIVO units. Unfortunately, I am not sitting in front of my DVR so I can not give you a specific answer.

Select modify season pass... You should see a line item that specifies the number of episodes to keep and I'm assuming yours has "5 episodes" selected. If you highlight that line item you should be able to increase the number of episodes Tivo will save.

Do you have a Season Pass for the show? You can get a season pass and tell it what to record...First run, Repeats, All etc. as well as How many episodes to keep and for How long. If you are just recording onesie twosie style, then you have to do each episode. You should also be able to look at upcoming shows to see which shows are going to be recorded.
