Are there any DirecTV Techs out there that can help me resolve this error? Most of the channels we have no issue with, unfortunately it is not consistent on which channel this error message will appear. Most of the time the channel comes in fine, but at the bottom of the screen this blue box with the error message is there for about 5 minutes and then will disappear unless you change channels and then it is back for another 5 minutes. Other times the channels we have previously been able to watch are now dark except for the blue box and error message. I called DirectTV tech support last night and she had us reset the DVR by unplugging it for about 20 secs and then letting it power back on. That did not fix it. She also had us check for obstructions and we verified there is nothing in the way of the dish. She couldn't tell us what the error message meant and her only suggestion was to sign up for a year maintence agreement and have a tech come out.

I got this a couple of weeks ago, and what fixed it was repointing the dish. It had been knocked out of alignment and was getting a very weak signal. I selected the signal strength meter from the Settings menu, and then went up on a ladder, loosened the bolts a tiny bit and tweaked the dish a bit while my daughter gave me a thumbs up/down on how the signal strength changed. When we got it maxed I tightened the bolts back down, checked one more time, and we've had no problems since.

So check your signal strength, you should be getting signals in the 70s or 80s, if it's low try realigning the dish.

Barry K's suggestion is a likely cause of the problem, but it could also be a bad cable connection. Be sure all the cables and connectors are in good condition. Finally, you could have a defective LNB, switch, or receiver. I recommend switching the LNB outputs and see if the problem moves to the other satellite (satellite 1); if so, the problem is in the LNB; if it stays on 2, it's likely to be your receiver. You can also try switching cables in part of the cable run.

I don't have DirecTV, but that error message means that your TV is searching for a signal on Satellite In 2.

1ST CHECK YOUR DISH TYPE TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF DISH YOU HAVE AND HOW MANY CABLE LINES YOU HAVE GOING TO THE RECEIVER IN QUESTION.2ND YOU GO INTO SET UP IN YOUR MENU AND RESET YOUR SATELLITE INFO AS YOU SAW IT WHEN YOU CHECKED FROM 1ST. WHAT IS HAPPENING IS YOU ONLY HAVE 1 LINE GOING TO YOUR RECEIVER OR IF YOU DO HAVE 2 YOU NEVER LET THE RECEIVER KNOW.JUST UPDATE YOUR RECEIVER INFO AND THAT SHOULD SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH CAPTIONS.

I am not affiliated with Directv, although I love my DTV service...

Try power cycling your reciever. If that does not solve you problem, check you cables. I have seen this with bad weather.
