I accidentally taped some video on my digital camera instead of taking a picture. How can I get pictures off of the video clip? Any tips on how I can do this without spending money would be great!

Which camera is better for daytime vs nighttime, for detailed objects/close-ups, landscaping vs. people
Which is better if you want to blow up the image to say 8x10 or larger and still have a sharp image without retouching - why??

My mom mentioned she would like a digital camera for Christmas. I'm at a loss as to which one would be right for her. It pretty much has to be extremely user friendly and good quality. She's somewhat familiar with using them but I want to make sure that she can use it and not bug the person next to her, asking if she doing it right.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks in advance!

The newest Consumer Reports has an article on digital cameras. The ratings chart indicated whether or not a camera has image stabilization. Aparently - based on the chart - they do not make any distinction between lens-based, sensor-based or sensitivity shift technology. I feel that this is misleading and will cause many "consumers" to buy cameras that utilize ISO shift for so-called "image stabilization" who will then be disappointed in their results.

What do you think?

I was thinking of buying Nikon D40 for myself. Currently I am in New Delhi. Please let me know what lens are included when I buy it. Or do I need to buy lens separately? Please tell me about the memory card as well.

Every magazine I buy, Every website I see...GREAT reviews of D-SLRS and the features they have...but NEVER a mention of BW digital photography.

Do the modern Canons and Nikons have a BW feature ? Does anyone out there have any experience with BW photography in today's D-SLR cameras ?

I recently purchased a Sony DSC-T200 digital camera. When I setup the self-timer, it always takes 6 pictures. Is this by design? Why does it do this? Is there a setting I can modify to have it only take 1 shot instead of 6?

Note - Before anyone tells me to read the manual, I already did, and it only tells me how to turn on the self-timer, it doesn't mention anything about it taking 6 shots.

My EOS 30D appears to be having an issue... When I press the shutter button down, it autofocuses almost immediately, but then there is a marked delay when I must hold the button down (the length of which varies from about a half a second to several seconds) until the shutter closes and the picture is taken. This just started happening all of the sudden... I'm wondering if it's a setting of some sort, or if it needs to be sent in for repair.

From what I'm told they are about the same camera, just marketed differently around the world. I was also told the Kiss comes with a better lens.

I am interested in photography and I would like to get a digital camera for about $500. I am not looking for a professional camera, but I do want my photos to look nice. Please don't tell me what model to buy, but please answer my questions if you can. I would like to have clear pictures, because I like to take close-up pictures of flowers and such, so I would like to know how much optical zoom and megapixels I should have. I also would like to take pictures in motion, like of someone jumping or diving into water, so how many frames per second should I have, or how fast of shutter speed? And should I buy the lense seperate or together with the camera? Lastly, what brands sell the best quality cameras? I am not looking for compact, just as long as it takes good pictures. Thanks!
