It is if you don't need much zoom. At a mere 3.6 optical zoom you go from 28mm to 100.8mm. At 28mm you'll get a slightly wider view than, say, a 35mm but you have to compute actual focal length by the "crop factor" for this camera (if it is 1.6 you're shooting from 44.8mm to 161.28mm. If the lens was a 35mm you'd be shooting from 56mm to 201.6). Ignore the "digital zoom" unless you're into poor quality images.
