although it doesnt have a battery and auto focus doesnt work

No. It is a bad deal for a broken camera. You can do better on Ebay.

Go digital. It is cheaper all the way even if you got that camera in good condition and for free.

$30 is cheap. By the way you may be unpleasantly surprised at what a battery costs.
