A friend of mine asked me that if he bought a camera that doesn't use AA batteries, does he have to take camera to camera store to put fresh set of batteries in when old set goes dead. I never thought about that, but is this true? Can this be done without store putting it in for you?

I'm trying to decide myself in choosing a digital camera.
i decided to ask advice from the "experts" .
I would like for the participants to give me their opinion.
Which is the best brand in digital photo cameras (overall commonly agreed)?
Is there a consensus in the best camera?

really like canon modles....have been debating on the Canon Digital Rebel xti 10.1 but I really don't need something that good but love the slr pictures...I really want a camera that you can pick out certain colors and have the rest in black and white..don't see that option with the rebel...does any one have any suggestions?

I use Canon Powershot 530.
The lighting conditions which i desired are achieved, but the pictures in dark are rough and pixelated in black areas...need to smoothen them. Any photoshop therapy???

She has a Minolta Dimage F100 right now, and all the specs are here:

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0203/02031304minoltaf100.asp

So, the basic stats of the camera are 4.0 megapixel and 2.5x zoom. Of course, I need to find something portable yet a lot better than what she has right now. Any suggestions? Any ideas would be gladly appreciated. I can always look them up online but nothing compares to personal experience.

I'm going to purchase either and still not sure. For some reason I like Nikon but Canon's a contender.. I'm looking for a camera for artistic purposes (I'm a retoucher by profession) and want something just with a solid feel. Plus manual controls that will give me a traditional photography feel. Is the D40 (6 megapixel) a contender? Lenses are the major investment so I assume I'll upgrade the camera later on. Any suggestions? Will the D40 suit my needs for a while? The extra couple hundred bucks for either (10 megapixel) just doesn't seem like it's worth the cost.

Here are two quick shots I just took of our cat to test the sharpness of the D200. I cropped the image from the original size of 3872 x 2592. I did not restrain the cropping in any way, so what you can view on Flickr is the full detail of the original image. You can read the comments with each photo to see the particulars, but they were each shot using auto-focus to catch my moving target. I used the on-camera flash; 60 mm macro lens; f/22; ISO 100. I used "auto-level" only and I did color in the "red-eye" on one picture.

Please click on "All Sizes" and then click on the largest size shown for each image before you judge sharpness.

hi, i just bought the canon powershot s3 is and i'm still getting used to it.
at first, when i took a picture it gave a little preview for a minute, then it went back to the regualr screen. now when it gives the little preview, this graph thing and some other info is on the preview.

i don't know what i pressed to make it do that, but when i see the little preview i don't want to see those! just the picture not the info.
do you know how to change it back?
thanks!

p.s. here's a link to a picture if you have no idea what i'm talking about, if it helps

I have a Mercury Classic Cam and it won't recognize it. The help section is very simplistic and uninformative, and won't tell me exactly what to download in order for my camera to work with PhotoSuite. It says something about downloading a TWAIN/WIA driver, and I have no clue whatsoever what that means. I've been to many sites trying to work this out and I'm completely STUCK.
WHAT DO I DO?
