My father owns a Sony Cyber-shot (6.0MP), and I love the thing. Its pictures always come out beautifully, and both the zoom and the focus are perfect.
However, it is a very large digital camera and much too bulky for my lifestyle - I need something that I can slip into my purse, not a camera that requires its own purse. I know that as the size of the camera decreases, the zoom must also decrease to a point. Are there any slimmer, sleeker digital cameras on the market that will offer me close to the same features as the Cyber-shot?

i have an olympus stylus 600, and was wondering how to take pictures of moving objects, i know about the sports setting and motion blur setting, but what i'm trying to do is throw a bunch of dice in the air against a black back drop, the problem is that when thw flash goes off the light intensity is to bright, i'v lowered the plus and minus thing, but it only goes to minus 2, i wanted to take the picture without the flash but the shutter speed seems to take much longer and just doesn't work, is there a way to keep quick shutter speed without the flash? there seems to be no options dealing with shutter speed on the camera?

ants invaded my canon rebel xt! by that, i mean they are INSIDE my camera! i could actually see them walking around inside the lcd! i don't understand...i keep my camera pretty clean. at least i don't eat chocolates or doughnuts and touch it without washing my hands first, and i don't store my camera near food either. does this happen often? if it does, what attracts the ants into the camera? had my rebel fixed, by the way. tech guy said it has a fifty-fifty chance of surviving depending on how far in the ants got. aaarrrggh!!!

I'm looking to buy a new expensive camera, and I already know that I want a canon but I don't know which system would be best. Canon Power shot, or the EOS system? Photography is a huge hobby of mine, and I'm actually going to school for it, so I want something that's very good and professional with high quality photo's.

For around $600, I can get either 3. XT is an obvious choice but I STILL seem to gravitate towards Nikon, however it has only 6.1 compared to the 8 of the Canon. Will I see a big difference in the two? I want SOLID camera I can grow with and that means lenses I might buy. Don't care about bells and whistles but a solid camera with manual controls to take the pics and experiment with. What's the best long-term camera? The D40, I hear might be less flexible than the D50 but is the D50 obsolete? What about the D40? Solid camera? XT? I'm concerned it's a flimsy peice of plastic with excellent componants. I'd prefer a more solid frame.. Suggestions?

To all the compact camera owners, just give me an opinion since I'm looking for a small digital camera that I can carry anywhere. What's the best digital camera in terms of low price and in low-light situation?

I used to love photography. I loved also the suspence of waiting for films to be processed.....but Im biting the bullet and going digital.

Never considered digital. Do the new cameras allow you to overide aperture control and compensate on exposure? If so, how easy is it?

Is there much point is having more than 10 million pixels if the largest picture size is going to be A4?

What kind of memory do I go for to store the photos when out on a shoot? I take lots of photos.

I have a Sony Cyber Shot Digital Camera with 7.2 megapixels. I use a Lexar (1GB and 2 GB) Memory Stick PRO Duo memory card. I recently spent a lot of time in France and when I went to dump my pictures off on to my computer it said it did not recognize the file type. When I look at the pictures directly from my memory card they just show the Photo Impression icon and if I click on them they say something is wrong with the file. I can see the pictures on my camera. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WRONG!!! Is there a way to get these pictures??? Or maybe a place that could do it for me??? I normally get my pictures dumped off on cds at Walgreens and I took this memory card in, along with a few others and they only dumped off some of them. Two full memory cards (one 1GB and one 2GB) would not work! PLEASE HELP!!! I'm DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANY advice would be AMAZING! I'm SOOOO stressed out...

My child dropped my Canon PowerShot S500, so I'm shopping for a new one. I care more for the quality of the picture than for the aesthetics of the camera itself. I also found that Canon seems to have 2 lines: PowerShot SD-xxx, and PowerShot A-xxx. I can't for the life of me figure out which one is more value-oriented, and which one is more quality-oriented, because they appear to be in a similar price category. What are the major differences between these 2 lines?

Thanks.

I recently got married and had disposable cameras at all of the tables. The rest of our pictures are digital, and i was wondering if any stores would put the film to CD without printing the photos, since it would just be more clutter around the house.
Thanks for any input

Going to buy a new camera but cannot yet afford good lens!

Definately buying a Canon Digital SLR as used to have the 350D, but should I now buy the 400D and try to get a lens sooner than later or stick with the 30D and stock lens?

So, should I buy:
1. 400D (and hope next year I can afford a decent lens)
or
2. 30D (and be happy with the lens it comes with)?

I am trying to build up my equipment over time so that I have a basic kit if I go professional. If that were to happen tomorrow I would get the 30D but as it's unlikely to happen for 3 years the 30D is likely to be outdated so shall I stick to a 400D and start saving for lenses instead?

Decisions, decisions...... :-). Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks!
