My mom got a digital canon slr camera a few months ago and was wondering about taking it on a plane. she's wondering if it hurts the camera to take it through security or have it up in the air.

x-ray can't affect memory bec this is a light sensing best on object temperature.

u shud be careful with magnetic sensing because this will erase your stored data.

I don't think so...

I've never had a DSLR, but I've taken smaller digicams on airplanes several times without problems. Well, there was that old Fuji one that died right after a trans-continental flight... but I'm considering that a coincidence. Digital cameras have no film for the X-ray machine to over-expose and very few moving parts, and I think the DSLRs especially are built to withstand a lot of stress.

X-rays do not hurt digital cameras in anyway. If your really scared take it on the plane with her. But there havent been any cases in which x-rays have erased a memory card.
