to this. I would like to post some questions. first of all the filters they have for the lense, do they make a big difference. one is ultraviolet and the other polarized. the polarized one looks like a sunglass to me so what does that do to your pictures? also being that i am an amateur, which lense should i buy first, which do you experts use the most. my guess was the zoom, but i thought i should ask first. the guy at the store didnt have alot of answers.any other tips are greatly appreciated. is there any good books to help me. I bought adobe photo elements also, now i guess it's time to test drive it. manual or auto for the amateur?

I am in the market for a digital SLR. I know I either want a Canon or Nikon. I was thinking of the Nikon D80, Canon 30D, Rebel XTi, or any other that you suggest.

When you use a lot of digital zoom the quality of the picture goes down leaving you with smaller size print options, right? Is it the same with optical zoom? I thought not, but some guy at the electronics store said "yeah a little" which just didn't seem right.

I really really want a digital SLR, but it's pricey [:(] so I'm looking for a 6 megapixeler that's cheap and has a good photo quality. I don't want to invest too much, because I want to save for an SLR, but can't find anything decent under $175 or so [maybe I'm hoping for too much?] I'm current testing out a Kodak EasyShare C653 from a friend [6.1 MP] and it sucks SO MUCH. The photo quality is horrible... at the price tag of $129. How can a camera have a high MP and really, really bad photo quality? I guess that's a second question if anyone wants to answer that as well.

I even bought ones specific for digital cameras; I'm so frustrated..I take about 5 or 6 pics and it shows low battery.

I buy reg. batteries and they work fine.
Do they just wear out and need to be replaced?

I found a digital camera that contains around 300 pictures. The pictures are of a group of friends mostly, but I understand that a camera belongs to a particular girl, who, judging from the pictures, has quite interesting life: lots of friends, different places, lots of fun - things that I personally lack. My question is: can I post the pictures online, lets say in the blog? or would it be an invation of privacy if the owner will see the pictures? Thanks

I didn't buy my camera recently. It is a Canon Rebel Ti from 2002. My dad keeps making fun of me for getting a film camera instead of a digital camera. Are film cameras not that good anymore? The reason I had gone film was because I thought that digital was never going to have the quality that real film would. Was this a stupid decision on my part?

Hello, I am thinking about purchasing a Canon SD600 digital camera. I currently have a Sony Cybershot with Sony memory cards. Can these cards be used for Canon cameras as well, or do I have to purchase Canon-specific memory cards? Thank you for your help!

The lens focuses from 1.8m to infinity. At what distance would you reach the infinity point? In other words at what distance would the lens stop changing the focus point and maintain its setting not matter how much further away an object, or point of focus was? And, beyond that point would it be wiser to set the focus to manual at infinity or continue to allow the autofocus to control the lens?

My trusted Sony dsc-p12 has died. I am looking at a Sony dsc-h5, samsung nv7, samsung nv10, finepix s9600 or Olympus sp-550.
I wondered if anyone had any of those models, and would care to share their views.
Thank you in advance.

Who makes better cameras? For example Canon or Nikon? Some people tell me only Canon, and some say only Nikon. Tell me your reasoning for the one you pick. Like, my uncle is a Canon fanatic. But then in TV shows and other places I see people or the actors using Nikon. What's the difference. Also, how is Konica Minolta? Are they any good? I am assuming so.

I was looking to buy some lenses for my camera and I wanted to know which brand lens I should buy. I searched for Canon, Sigma, and Quantaray. I noticed Canon lenses are a lot more expensive. Which ever one you choose, what is wrong with the other ones. i.e. if you pick Canon, then tell me what is wrong with Sigma and Quantaray.
