i have a kodak digital camera, and ive never had any problems with it.
also, kodak rechargable batteries last a long time for digital cameras.
you want a camera with a display screen also, because then you can view your pictures before you download them to your computer, and make sure you like them first.
i got mine from walmart for about a hundred bucks.
but you find them cheaper.
just check around department stores like target, kmart, walmart, exc.

Well if we talk about the Brands of Digital camera....
i have seen the top 5 Brands Ranked as fallows in the exhibition held in USA on dec 2006...
1) Sony
2)Cannon
3) Kodak
4) JVC
5) Creative

I would say either Nikon or Canon, because both are trusted to make quality products, but other brands like Sony also do a good job with their cameras.

Choose a brand that's been making quality cameras for years although I'll admit Sony hasn't been in the still camera for very long, even though I own a Sony CyberShot.

I have a canon iss2 i think it's great, look for a brand that's been in the business forever, Sony in my option doesn't have the best CS.

There are two serious photographer camera systems (Nikon & Canon) and many consumer brands. I prefer Nikon.

The best award must be Sony ! Its stylish. Its user friendly. Trust me the menu is one of the best thought out one. The Sony Store is just fantastic. If you have not been to one, check out a Sony store and you will be impressed by the range of assessories for you to expand your hobby. Sony is not just camera its a specialty store. Becasue I have not heard of a Canon store.
