I think it's more of a personal preference.
I think Canon makes better cameras.
Please go to www.pbase.com
and go to search cameras, look for the model you're interested in
and you will see what fellow photographers photos look like with
that camera..
Have fun.

For the old-fashioned 35mm SLR cameras I'm a believer in Nikon, but that's because I worked on them for over three years and saw how much abuse they can stand up to and still produce top-quality pictures. For digital cameras I lean toward Canon because they led the charge into digital camera technology and they're way ahead of Nikon in terms of picture quality, user friendliness, and bang for the buck. P.S.: Konica Minolta cameras are good, but from what I've seen they're not as well-made as Canons or Nikons.

I would have to go with canon. I have sold cameras for 3 years now and canon has been the best as far as durability and quality goes. Customers seem to be very happy with them, therefore they rarely get returned. Now, Nikon may have good advertising, but thats just to draw the attention its lacking.
I dont really know too much about konica minoltas, one reasons being that customers never seem to buy them. But then again, I havent heard anything bad about them. Hope this helps.

Its personal preference as to which is the best. Depends what features you want and how easy or difficultyou want it to be to operate. Personally im a Sony fan but thats just cos they are good alrounders and relativley straight forward to operate.
Each Canon and Nikon model will differ to another so just look for the features you want

In general, its said that Nikon and Cannon are the top of the camera makers.
But this questions is very similar to the "who makes the better car, Ford of Chevy?" You will get many answers from many people who are die-hard either way but it really comes down to preference.

OK once you start getting into the SLR range of camera including dSLR 99 percent of the cameras out there are really good. The thing is to pick a camera based on how it feels to you, how well it fits in your hand and such. It is not so much the camera that makes the picture as it is the lens, so if you want good pictures you will have to invest in quality lens.
