i accidentally formated my canon digital ixus 50 5.0 mega pixal camera with my holliday photos on, is there any possibility of retreiving the photos. i did a low level format if that makes any difference

They are not gone forever as previously stated by some people....

Do not use the memory card - Re-using it will overwrite the underlying data. There are plenty of programs about that recover formatted discs (or in this case cards), some are expensive, some are not. Alternatively you could take it to a specialist who should be able to recover the majority, if not all of the photo's. I recently recovered a 300GB Hard drive which had been re-formatted by mistake, and didn't lose a single file.

Have a look at www.pctools.com, www.pcperformancetools.com for starters, and failing that, just search for "recover fromatted data" or similar and see what comes up.

Most important thing is don't use the card until it's sorted one way or the other.

No problem.

I believe that by marinading the camera in cabbage water for 3 days the ixus should spontaniously correct the format issue.

When you format your memory card, it means that the photos are gone for ever I'm afraid.

There are recovery programs. Try Smartundelete or the like
I did the same thing and undeleted stuff I didnt even know was still on the card!!

You can try VERY EXPENSIVE software retrival. It will cost your like $100 minimum.

im not sure if you have deleted from the internal memory on the camera or the memory card ,try searching the net for data recovery ,heres one i found on searching google .
