Please spell Canon right there is no such thing as Cannon. This war can go on for ever. My opinion Canon is better but thats because I have equpiment in Canon. Theres no point in you switching over to Canon when you have Nikon equipment. It makes no sense to spend thousands of bucks in Nikon and switch over to Canon. (Unless Nikon totally fes you over but that probably will never happen). Nikon has better optics. Canon has better firmware. Get over it. Both are used by pros and both are good. Just depends on preferences. He perfers Canon and you, I guess not really sure if you own a D200 question it, Nikon. Canon is used by sport photographers because of faster autofocus than Nikon. Nikon is used by portrait people because it does a better job at blending colors more naturally. Whoopie! If it aint bringing bacon to the table, I just want a camera that works cause its taking away bacon from the table =D

It depends on which Canon you are comparing this to. If it's not "at least" the 5D, I don't think there is any contest between the D200 and any lesser Canon's, like the 30D or the Rebel's. It even compares quite well with the 5D, which costs more than twice as much as the D200.

Check out this list, which I just found. It puts the two "big" Canon's first and the Nikon D200 third, ahead of any Canon that your jealous friend is likely to own.

I'm a D200 user.

The camera is not the issue when you are at the D200 level. At this level, it's the lens quality and the photographer that make all the difference.

Snapshots vs photographs.

Umm, so she really does have a nikon 200! And it's name is Regina!!! And I'm it's godmother!!! And I have to say that you really shouldn't make fun of her spelling either. Your just jealuos because you don't have as good of a camera as hers! And also, if someone is looking for a camera, then they are going to invest a lot of money into it, and so they want to make sure they get the camera that works best for them!

At this level, as others have said before me...it is not the camera so much as it is the talent of the photographer. Do you ask a great chef what pots they use? NO - it doesn't matter what kind of pot it is, it is all about what goes into the pot. Knowledge along with talent and lots of other things are all part of the whole photography "recipe". ;)

Canon. More manual controls, even in your simple point and shoot, the user interface is easier, you can do more photo editing on camera, plus it's cooler and nikon just soundssss funny. :)
