In lab tests Sonys do not perform as well as Nikon or Canons. I have used one but have never liked them. Their imagine quality is mediocre, and ISO is horrible. Canon makes the best comsumer camera in my opinion. They have really great imagine quality for their size. I would recommond them. Here are a few choices:

Slim and Small- No limit- Canon SD900
Slim and Small- $300-400 limit Canon SD800 IS (Has Imagine Stablization)
Slim and Small- $200-$300 limit- SD600 6MP

Ultrazoom- Canon S3IS (Has Imagine Stablization) 12X optical 6MP

Budget Camera- No limit- Canon A640 10MP 4X Optical Zoom
Budget Camera- Less than $300- Canon A630 8MP 4X Optical Zoom

Enutheist Camera- No Limit- ($500+) Canon G7 10MP 6X Optical Zoom

SLR- No Limit- Canon Mk-II $5000 w/o lens
SLR- $3000 - Canon 5D Full Sensor
SLR- Budget - Canon 30D
SLR- Below $1000 w/ lens kit - Canon Rebel XTi

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot T10 and I absolutely love it! I used to have a T5, but it got stolen, so I decided to ugrade to the T10 and I'm so glad that I did! It's 7.2 megapixles... My favorite thing about the Sony cameras is the video mode. The memory on a Sony Memory Stick is formatted different than an SD card, so it holds a lot more... A 1GB card for sony will hold like 45 minutes of video, while a 2GB SD card will only hold approx. 20 min. The newer Sony cameras are much better, they have a better image stabilization and they are small to boot! The only thig I don't really like is that they have a very small lens and its not telescopic (it zooms internally) so it doesn't catch a lot of light, so it doesnt take great pictures of scemery or objects at night, but it takes great ones of people... Other than that I don't have any complaints about it! This is my 3rd Sony camera and before the Sony's I had a Nikon. I definately like the Sony ones better and when I worked at Best Buy I would always reccomend the Sonys over the Nikons or Cannons...
