Most people who use digital cameras only print the very best photo's, and/or those they are going to frame or send to people via snail mail. This way, the cost of printing is not unmanageable. It's all about being selective.

Of course, if you are going to put all your photo's into a scrapbook or photo album then you might want to print them all, but few people I know actually use every photo they take.

That doesn't sound right unless you had a big bunch of prints made. Considering the capacity of media cards, how many prints are we talking about? If there were between 160 and 210 prints, that could add up to $40 at $.19 to $.25 per.

Or did you have them printed as 8x10s and framed with gold?

At my lab, 4x6 prints are .29 for under 50 prints, and .19 for 50 or more. Our outlab price is .15 each. I think most photo processors are in the same ballpark, plus or minus a few cents.
Almost certainly, it would cost you more to print them at home.

To cut down on costs try Snapfish. You can email them the pics, upload them on their site and mail them any film you may want to develop. They offer free prints for joining and tons of discounts while you're a member.
