Forget Polaroid. Go with the cheaper Sonys, Canons or Fugi.

I would not recommend polaroid. It would be good to know more about your budget and needs but assuming you want a nice point and shoot consumer level camera I would recommend a Canon. Nikon is also not bad but I like Canon's better. They are easy to use, compact and they have great color tone.

If you want an SLR I recommend the Nikons over the Cannons. The new D40 is a great camera for the money.

Polaroid is okay
But, I think you really want a bit more than simpy Okay
Check out the various styles and models from Canon
they have several that are in the mid to lower price ranges
and, believe me here, they are made extremely well
as well as having service centers all over the world
to help in case there is ever a problem one !!!
I am a professional commercial photographer
and have used Canon equipment for a long long
time-- they have always provided me with exceptional
service and superb results !!!!

Film prices are not cheap and the cost of developing is rising as digital cameras take over and there is less call for film.

Polaroid is an expensive way to go and likely to become more so. It is also more difficult to get more copies and enlargements from.

The best solution is a digital camera. If you have a computer this allows you to download your photos to hard disc and save on printing costs. It also allows you to send your photos in emails and post them in on line albums.

A low cost printer can produce quite good quality photos at low cost..

I bought a Nikon L3, for like 120 or 130, and it's really good.

I love it, it's small, not too thick, and it's really nice.

and clearly not expensive.
