Software - December 2007

I am presently selling some software that I have installed once, but never used, so I figured I might as well get rid of it. I have a ebayer telling me that after its activated three times on computers, that its no longer usable. Does this make any sense? Im wondering if I should just pull the auction, b/c I certainly don't want someone to buy something of mine if they are suspicious or concerned. Just looking for thoughts or opinions.

My recent items folder still works and has the files I recently opened, however it doesn't have the "Clear recent item list" thing when I right click it. It doesn't show it, back then it did. Can someone help me?

i'm running the new version of spybot v1.5. i was able to change system startup entries and remove usage tracks. now, for some reason it says i can't do those things because i "don't have administrator privileges". I AM THE ONLY USER ON THIS COMPUTER. i checked user settings, and it still says i'm admin and have full rights.

i ran updated definitions for spybot, ran a check with it. i also ran checks with Windows Defender and McAfee SecurityCenter (these were all running before spybot was even installed, everything worked correctly)

how do i fix this problem?

Almost everytime I go to Internet explorer, I get this error notice, "Internet Explorer has encountered an error and must close", I click "debug" and then can open Explorer. Anyone else having this problem? If so, what's the fix?

I'm talking .avi, MP4 and xvid files, mostly.
I thought all I needed to convert these to (UK) watchable DVD format was to get, say, Nero Vision, and click away.
But now I've visited a couple of forums, read about transcoding, burning, shrinking - ??? - couldn't be more confused...
Would really appreciate a succinct, A-Z instruction from a kind someone in the know:)

Im trying to rename a file and it goes through the whole need permission thing so i do that and then all of a sudden it'll say you don't have permission try again. WTF!!!! Im the admin. How do i not have permission. This is very irritating and im about to smash my computer if i don't get a solution to this problem.

im suposed to make a timeline of about 20 events and its supposed to be done on excel and the right amount of space is supposed to be inbetween each event so its proportionate to the events, i have no idea how though,, help??

I just got done taking pictures with my digital camera and forgot to change the file type to .JEP, so now the images are .NEF types. I need to upload them on a PC and can't. I tried using Irfanview by changing the .TIF extension to .NEF but that didn't work. I need to d/l a new program but I don't know which one would be best.

I have some Excel documents to send to other parties outside my office. I want to set it so they can't modify any of the data, but they can filter it. How do I do that? I've been trying but every attempt at protecting the document can be undone by the person I'm sending it to.

I just bought a new gateway mt3423 laptop with Windows Vista.

long story short i didnt like vista tried to downgrade to xp, couldnt find compatable drivers and wound up reinstalling vista.

now whenever i try to open up my games like solitaire or minesweeper etc. I get a message telling me im in software rendering mode, and i either don't have hardware acceleration enabled, or my video card doesn't support this feature.

Anyone know a way to fix this WITHOUT buying a new restart disk from gateway.

every time i am playin g the game computer turnoff and say its dumping momery or something like that ...how do i fix this ? i have played this game on the same computer but using diffrernt vidoe card do you think videos card is thr problem if it is how do i fix this ..updating drivers will it work have not try that yet ...?

In the spring my friend got a Very nice very expensive Hp desktop computer but hasn't got time until yesterday to get everything setup, she asked me to help because i know alot about computers and i called a help number and she helped me but then i got redirected to a website to buy a 150 dollar version of Microsoft Office and i ask the lady i was talking to if i had to buy this and she said yes they only downloaded the trail version on your computer and you have to buy the full version so i was like are you kidding me this is the cheapest and she asked if i was a student and i said yes and she told me i could get a version for 60 dollars... is there any cheaper version i could get that still had Word, Excel, and powerpoint???

i am unable to open any folder, mycomputer, mydocuments .But MSOFFICE applications are accessible.Also i am using a corrupted windows xp .I want to empty the c drive and then want to reinstall the xp again.
I want to know that how to empty the c drive and is there some"bootable CD" required to install new xp on c drive in this situation?
Please tell me how to empty the c drive completely?
Also ho to install a new xp on c drive?
Is is possible that i keep all my important data on d drive and then format(empty) the c drive and then use a bootable cd to install a new xp OS.
please suggest.

I am typing up a document on Microsoft word and while typing, it keeps breaking up my words instead of moving the whole word to the next line. Where do I go to change the formatting so it will stop doing that?
