I'm talking .avi, MP4 and xvid files, mostly.
I thought all I needed to convert these to (UK) watchable DVD format was to get, say, Nero Vision, and click away.
But now I've visited a couple of forums, read about transcoding, burning, shrinking - ??? - couldn't be more confused...
Would really appreciate a succinct, A-Z instruction from a kind someone in the know:)
Thank you!

It is very easy, and you dont need to be confused,
You need a software that convert to dvd format, and then burn them into a dvd.
I suggest you download ConvertXtoDVD, it is my favorite

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!

it is easy to use, fast and it works! give it a try, you'll love it

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DVD-Converter/AVI-DivX-XVid-to-DVD.php?exact=sa_ConvertXtoDVD

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, mp4, avi to dvd

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click "Convert"

5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

You need to convert your video files into dvd format and then burn them to dvd discs - most home dvd players accept dvd-r and some dvd+r; if your home dvd player plays only dvd-r and your computer only burns to dvd+r, you are stuffed. Burn to dvd-r if you can. Sothink is free - it has a simple to follow wizard that will walk you through the process of making a dvd move from your files. Get it here

an alternative is Avi2dvd - free here
