(1) This is not an insult, and truly serious: consider ridding yourself of Vista and going to XP. Microsoft sells it for a mere $200 or so. (Or...go to Ubuntu or Mac, but that's off-topic.)
(2) Yes, yes, you're the admin. It's like, Microsoft and all their danged error messages and Help files, "Contact your System Administrator". Irks me, too. Chumps!

But if you can't go into "Properties..." on the folder and reset the permissions then...

It's remotely conceivable that you have an "administrator" userid lurking around on your computer. (Did you buy the computer new with Windows pre-installed?) You should have instructions or a piece of paper with that sort of information. You could go to the User Accounts panel of the Control Panel and see if there's an Administrator userid, or Logoff and then quick Ctrl+Alt+Del to see if you get a choice of userids which includes the Administrator userid...but it is to be hoped you know the password for that or at least your own userid!

Good luck!

Sometimes if the file is open in a program Vista'll do that. I get it if I try to rename mp3s when I have them open in Media Player. Try closing anything that might have the file open.
