Security - December 2007

Having the ZoneLab installed the PC just restarts at will, the PC uses Windows XP. I nstalled Zone Alarm after the Norton expired. I also disabled windows firewall. Please help

I have been using hotmail as my primary email account for years and never had a problem until now. Some of my friends try to email me and are blocked, I did'nt block them. I unblocked them by following the instructions in the help section of hotmail and changed my password. I did this 3 times and my friends are still blocked out and my password keeps going back to the original. How do I fix this?

it says pav.zip
after unzipping it , its pav.sig

I am trying to download skype so my ebay customers can chat and get a quick answer, but I am quite naive at 56. My puter seems to not want to do it, probably the Micro trend ?? It says it causes a "registry change" and I have NO IDEA if this is normal or very very bad, advice desperately needed for my Christmas listings/sales. thanks

Can anyone tell me how İ can download microsoft word (any year apart from 07) onto my laptop? İ don't have the means to pay for it over the net though. İ need to send some important documents to someone although they just keep saying they can't open it as it's not send in word. İ have microsoft office at the moment.

When you bring a PC to get fixed or whatever, do techs snoop through your hard drive? Look at your pictures? Check out your movies and games? Look for bootlegs? Would you get in trouble for having bootlegged games and music on a hard drive when you bring it in?

I don't want it running everyday, it takes ages and really slows down my computer, but I've looked in the scheduler section and can only see an option to reschedule the update.
I can't seem to find the option anywhere, is it only with the paid for edition that you can do this?

When I turn off at night, I click on 'install updates' because I get the message that there are some ready for download. PC turns off, but will not accept the updates.

I keep getting prompt upates are ready for your computer but fails to install.
I cant understand the download size is 0kb and connection speed is 0 minutes, how is it possible.
My second why is it on this site the language occasionally changes language to chinese at random, I press the back button and resumes in English. This is making me very nervious because I once had my PC raiderd from an email sent to me in a chinese languge resulting loosing every page I was working on.

I have Yahoo Anti-Spy. It's not my primary but I do run it periodically just for s---ts and giggles. It always finds adware called "Searchnet", but can't remove it. None of my other anti-spyware programs finds it. Any ideas or info?

I am getting a pop up on my PC - I think it is from gomyhit but when I click yes on it it is sending to www.trustedantivirus.com.

Ive had this problem in the past but it just stopped one day and it started again today its my desktop dissapearing and i thought i solved it but now it has come back and im already sick of it again can someone help me? already scanned (and deleted things) with Windows Defender (got rid of it in the first place) and scanned and deleted stuff with ncleaner i cant really think of what else to do

When I log on I see a very light block on the upper right hand corner and everything else on the screen is normal. When I restart, it goes away, but if I log in again, it comes back. Could this be from a virus? I'm running a virus scanner right now and it hasn't come up with anything yet...

ok so i have a few windows open so if i close one a window pops up saying blah blah blah send error report or dont send and it getting really annoying and my computer is really new and i have a panda security thing also and i scanned my computer a few times and it says there are no viruses or anything...and if i wanted to see some pictures on featured on yahoo id click it but then i close it it closes all the windows!!! its really getting on my nerves and i also play runescape and if i try to log in everything works fine until it goes to the login screen none of the buttons are clickable and u can hear that stupid song playing then it freezes the window i looked through some other questions on here and i tried some stuff but they really dont work some person put deleting some cookies but my computer wont do anything so please help and oh i wonder if having limewire will do anything idk if it gave any type of virus or not but im not sure exactly

I have a little brother who uses the computer and i want to find a free software that i can download and turn on when hes on the computer to keep him off bad sites and then turn the software off when im on. Any ideas?

I sent some encrypted files to myself and Hotmail thinks they have viruses. I don't have the originals and they're stuck there.

Is there SOME way to bypass it or disable it? I know there's probably no conventional way to do it but those files are so close and I can't even get to them. The virus scanner is Trend Micro and when I try to download them it says there's an internal error. I've tried forwarding them and it only sends the ones that aren't encrypted.
