I don't want it running everyday, it takes ages and really slows down my computer, but I've looked in the scheduler section and can only see an option to reschedule the update.
I can't seem to find the option anywhere, is it only with the paid for edition that you can do this?

Cheers! xx

Yes it is possible>doubleclick on icon in taskbar
and just above the icon you will see
scheduled tasks>click on that and the tasks box
will appear>highlight>test plan in basic mode and
click edit schedule and yet another box will appear
and thats the one you want.Uncheck!!!!!!!!!
The best way now is not to have a schedule scan,
but scan when going out or to bed and check the
box on L/H bottom corner to turn off computer
when finished. This is an exellent improvement.

Hope this helps

edit. you cannot change auto updates as RON M said, as it is system set.

DON'T USE FREEWARE The term "You Get What You Pay For" REALLY applies when talking about antivirus. First of all, you never want to have more than one antivirus installed.. they will conflict with each other (regardless of whether they are disabled) and will render each other less than useless. If you have 2 installed, you must uninstall BOTH, and reinstall the one you want after a complete reboot. I strongly suggest you use antivirus / firewall / anti-spyware combo from a RELIABLE vendor (like McAfee, Norton, etc)... ensure that you properly configure the program and have it setup to automatically update. The reason you pay for these is so that you get those automatic updates AND so that you have an antivirus scanner scanning in REAL-TIME... which means it is always on watching you opening and closing and downloading files... whereas that freeware crap does a single scan only when you initiate it... so worthless protection. Good Luck.

You can set AVG's 'free" version to scan when you want it to or not "auto" scan at all. Just do the following.

Right click the AVG icon in the tray, and open the "AVG Free Edition - Control Center. Now click "Test Center" and then Click Scheduler.

In the Scheduled Tasks window, single click the plan that you wish to change and then click "Edit Schedule" at the bottom. A small window (Schedule Daily Test) will open. Remove the check from "Periodically start scheduled antivirus test" and then click "ok". You will now have to do manual tests or scans.

You can to the same for "Automatic updates" but I suggest that you allow them to run. They only take a few seconds.

I use the same programme and have never had this problem. How ever , as I don't think you can you can stop it scanning every day, you can change the time of the scan. Why not change the time to scan when you are not using the computer, like early hours of the morning? This way you will not have the problem of it slowing down your comp. Best of luck.lol

I don't see that the free version can do this. I recommend running it at a time you aren't using your computer if you're worried about slowdown.
