How long does it take to realize your computer has a virus?

I mean you would know within a week wouldn't you? Please give details!

hey, ive just downloaded limewire a music downloading engine, a legal one might i add i payed for it,. but when i try to download a song a message pops up saying a firewall is stopping you from downloading songs, any ideas how i get rid of the firewall, thanks x

I've had numerous viruses infect my computer and I'm wondering why? Once they infect (at least the ones I've gotten) slow the computer down so much you can't even navigate.

I don't keep ANY personal history on my PC (no banking, bill paying etc.) so why infect the PC? Aside from "cookies" I have nothing on my PC that I believe would be useful to anyone.

i have windows firewall and the internet pop-up blocker turned on, but i still get a popup once almost every minute. i have checked and rechecked that windows firewall and popup blocker ARE on and they are, so i dont know why popups are coming through. i have bittorrent running, is that maybe the reason popups are coming through? i hate popups

I have got four user accounts on my pc,and I'm the administrator and I have forgotton my password. I have no recovery or original disc to put into my pc and I need to get to my files for work but can't access them. How can I change the password with no discs at all. The other problem I'm having is the pc is telling me that "a pop up window was blocked" and it is doing my head in. I think that someone knew the password and has changed it. Can anybody help me, even by getting into my pc from somewhere else in the world via remote and if that is the case, how do I go about setting that up. I am an idiot when it comes to computers?

my dad plays both poker stars and party poker and now his computer is super slow and you get so many random pop ups all the time... i would like to be able to fix this problem for him some how... i am broke but i suppose i am willing to spent money, however i would like to be able to find a program that will fix this for no expense

Internet explorer is running slow and i keep getting a pop up sometimes that says "memory full at line 23 (or 19)"

What should i do i dont have any system scanner or anything. On ym old laptop i had AVG or something but i need a fast, free, and reliable system scanner.
Is spybot search and destroy free? Ive used it before too.

Just give me some websites i cant get a virus please =[

so far no one has been able to tell me who is scanning my ports Somebody is scanning your computer.
Your computer's TCP ports:
7212, 8080, 8000, and 3128 have been scanned from 58.61.155.13..

What is this "About Blank" page that pops up every time I close my internet explorer?..How can I get rid of it for FREE?? I do not know what it is and it is really bugging me...I have SUPER SPYBOT, SPYWARE DOCTOR, AVG, AND WEBROOT (window cleaner)....I run them often and they don't seem to fix the problem...Is it a virus of some sort?? i have had norton 2007 for 1 year and it has now exspired,i bought a new norton 2007 with new product key on the cover from pc world for £25 .00. as it was cheaper than updating Everytime i uninstall the exspired one and put my new one on, it does not give me the option to use my new product key number. it just keeps useing my old one i have tried useing norton uninstall and i have even searched my computer for all norton files and anything to do with symantec and deleted them but no joy please help this is really getting on my nerves now/.

I uploaded something by mistake to the public server but I took it down right away. Will the fact that I uploaded it be recorded anywhere? Thousands of files are uploaded and viewed every day - but I am not an admin on the server side... I just have an FTP account. What is the most common setup?

There is this website called filmz.tv and I just downloaded a movie from there and found out it is a government run website that tracks your IP address and fines people 250,000 per movie. What do I do now? Is there anything I can do on my computer to erase the history of it or anything like that? I already deleted the movie.
